Announcement   This shop is closing at the end of the year. If you see something you like, buy it, as it will no longer be available next year. I make hand quilted baby quilts and other quilts, machine quilted table runners, placemats, potholders, photo albums and machine embroidered items for children, the kitchen and the holidays. I can personalize any item and can make a custom item with your choice of colors, designs or wording.

I feel a quilt made by hand has a little bit of love tucked in between the layers of cloth and soft batting as it is being sewn. Patchwork quilts, made with many colors of fabric are my favorite. They resemble the jumble of colors in a flower garden—thus the name—Barb’s Quilt Garden.

About

A piece of fabric, another and another - soon a quilt!

I've always loved to sew. As a child I helped mom when she worked on quilts, I embroidered some dish towels and every doll had a wardrobe. When I married, I made lots of things for my new house. I put the finished items in the County Fair and won blue ribbons on all of them.

Then the kids came along. I made their clothes and mine also. I even attempted to make some shirts for my husband. I made a quilt for my little girl's room with Holly Hobbie on it. She loved it. I often borrowed my mom's quilt frame to make our bedding - as you know, quilts are extra warm. I think anything of fabric in the house had my handmade touch.

Time moved on, I had a job away from home and my handiwork had come to a halt, there just wasn't enough time. But as the kids grew older and moved out on their own, time was more available and I saw an ad in the newspaper for a quilt frame somebody had made. I decided I wanted that frame and it is the mainstay of my sewing room. The next big purchase was my BabyLock embroidery/sewing machine. Now I can make anything! There's just not enough time in the day and my head if filled with so many wonderful ideas.
