Just as described. Thank you!
The little photography shop of a girl with a camera and a spirit like fire.
I have always loved old things.
I grew up in an old house (it turns 100 this year!), loved the smell of old books, and especially loved old pictures. They have such a lovely quality to them, in black and white with the film grain and their little peak into the past.
When I finally took a film based photography class, and got to be completely involved in every aspect of the photographic process, I was hooked. There's such an excitement of capturing light on a roll of film and not knowing what exactly you caught. It's a labor of love to develop it, standing by the sink, agitating the tub at intervals, and really just waiting. And then you finally have a glimpse of the images. Hours of darkroom time later, once you're pores are oozing that smell of developer, you have a final finished print. Probably just one. And it is the best feeling ever. I once spent 9 hours in a row in the darkroom, I even forgot to eat I was so enthralled in my work.
And so I decided I must always take pictures.
Now I mix film with digital. Many of the images in the shop were shot on film and scanned into the computer. Many are shot digitally as well, but I try to not loose the wonder of the process that using film taught me. The amazement that I've caught light through glass, a tiny moment preserved and given back to the world.
I hope that the love of my work glows throughout my work.
