Organic, Sustainable & Handmade.

Hello! I'm Angela and I am handcrafting with organic textiles for children and families. I'm a mom to two perfect kids and two fluffy English Mastiffs named Lilo & Stitch. I love planting seeds, organic textiles, and playing with colors of fiber reactive dyes! My Etsy is all organic and handmade by me. My family loves the outdoors and so it's most important that I contribute to a healthy environment and clean water by choosing sustainable materials.

I grew up in a beach-side community, raised by a family of multi-talented artists and nature lovers. I pursued a liberal arts education in college, became a social worker for foster children, and married a surfer/ outdoorsman from the Outer Banks, North Carolina.

We relocated our family to spend four years on a homesteading adventure in a pristine Central American wilderness. While my husband constructed our home and alternative energy system, I planted seeds with our one-year-old daughter, practiced medicinal horticulture, studied lepidoptera, and began re-purposing textiles.

Full circle back in The States now, I make art with children in local schools, I make medicine with backyard plants, I raise butterflies and I experiment with textile crafts. It's magical sharing my interests here with other families.

About my organic materials:

GOTS Certified Organic Cotton:

Growing cotton organically maintains soil fertility and reduces the use of toxic pesticides and fertilizers. GOTS is a worldwide third-party organization that verifies that methods and materials meet strict environmental and social standards. Regulations prohibit the use of genetically engineered seed (No GMO's) for organic farming and workers receive fair wages. Organic cotton is an environmentally and socially responsible choice for textiles.

Linen:
Organic clothing manufacturers love linen because it's a natural fiber made from the flax plant and it is grown without the use of harmful pesticides. The resulting cloth is strong, absorbent, and fast-drying. Linen clothing has an iconic fresh texture and keeps the wearer cool in warm climates.

Alpaca Fiber:

I fell in love with Alpacas after hand feeding them in Peru, where ancient Peruvians cherished the gentle creatures and crafted the fine fleece aka "Fiber of The Gods" into clothing for royalty. Our fiber comes from a family farm, where Alpacas are raised on over four hundred acres of open pesticide-free land. They are ethically sheared each spring and cared for as beloved pets. Alpaca fiber is gaining mainstream attention as an ethical and healthy stuffing alternative because the fiber is naturally flame resistant, it's cleaned without chemical scouring and no synthetic fillers or flame-retardant-toxins are applied.

Pure Silk:

Silk is woven from threads harvested from cocoons of silk moths, Bombyx mori, who feed on White Mulberry leaves. Silk is naturally hypoallergenic, naturally resistant to dust mites and naturally fire retardant. Silk's Amino acids aid the human body's central nervous system and help to promote a sense of calmness.

Low Impact Fiber Reactive Dye:

Low-Impact Fiber Reactive Dyes bond with the fabric at a molecular level and do not wash off. Low-Impact, Fiber-Reactive Dyes are preferred by organic clothing manufacturers because there's a rainbow of vibrant color options, there's no heavy metals or other known toxic substances and the finished dyed textiles pass GOTS certification tests.

I would love to see your pictures with the things that I have made. You can tag me in your photos on Instagram and Twitter at the social media links below. Feel free to message me about creating a special request.
Thank you!

*See washing instructions at the bottom.
I only use the finest materials for these soft toys; GOTS Certified Organic Cotton, Peace Silk, Hemp Silk Satin and fine Alpaca fleece. Because of the materials and the hand-made process, no two toys are identical. I hand-dye and handcraft every single piece one at a time to create a one-of-a-kind heirloom. See washing instructions at the bottom here. All dyes are Low Impact-Fiber Reactive, which bond with the fabric at a molecular level and do not come off.
