Organic, Sustainable & Handmade.

Hello! I'm Angela, creator of Little Barefoot Princess' organic designs for children. I'm mom to two perfect kids and two fluffy English Mastiffs named Lilo & Stitch. I love to write, draw, paint, plant seeds, raise butterflies and make things! My Etsy is all organic and handmade by me. My family loves the outdoors and so it's important that I contribute to a healthy environment and clean water by choosing sustainable materials.

I grew up in a beachside community where my grandmother loved taking me to the beach, working with me in the garden and sewing beautiful dresses for me. Interested in people and their stories, I studied comimunication and became a social worker for foster children.

I married a surfer/ outdoorsman from the Outer Banks, North Carolina and we relocated our family to homestead in a pristine Central American wilderness. While my husband constructed our home and alternative energy system, I planted seeds with our one-year-old daughter, practiced medicinal horticulture and studied lepidoptera.

Full circle back in The States now, I'm still raising butterflies, making tinctures with backyard plants and sewing dresses for my own daughter. It's magical that I can share my experience with other familes here through etsy.

About my organic materials:

Research shows growing cotton organically is the environmentally and socially responsible choice for textiles. I fell in love with Alpacas after hand feeding them in Peru, where ancient Peruvians cherrished the gentle creatures crafting their fine fleece aka "Fiber of The Gods" into clothing for royalty. Our fiber comes from a family farm, where Alpacas are raised on over four hundred acres of open pesticide-free land. They are ethically sheared each spring and cared for as beloved pets. Alpaca fiber is gaining mainstream attention as an ethical and healthy stuffing alternative because the fiber is naturally flame resistant, it's cleaned without chemical scouring and no synthetic fillers or flame-retardant-toxins are applied.

Silk is naturally hypoallergenic; naturally resistant to dust mites and naturally fire retardant. Silk's Amino acids aid the human body's central nervous system and help to promote a sense of calmness. Peace Silk is awesome because it is woven from threads of cocoons harvested after the moths have emerged:)

Low-Impact Fiber Reactive Dyes bond with the fabric at a molecular level and do not wash off. Low-Impact, Fiber-Reactive Dyes are preferred by organic clothing manufacturers because there's a rainbow of vibrant color options, there's no heavy metals or other known toxic substances and the finished dyed textiles pass GOTS certification tests.

I welcome custom requests, wholesale orders and the challenge of creating new designs. Matching dresses and baby blankets are possible with any toy. Message me for wholesale and bulk discounts or to create a one of a kind gift.

*See washing instructions at the bottom.
I only use the finest materials for these soft toys; GOTS Certified Organic Cotton, Peace Silk, Hemp Silk Satin and fine Alpaca fleece. Because of the materials and the hand-made process, no two toys are identical. I hand-dye and handcraft every single piece one at a time to create a one-of-a-kind heirloom. See washing instructions at the bottom here. All dyes are Low Impact-Fiber Reactive, which bond with the fabric at a molecular level and do not come off. *Soft Toy Washing Instructions

Alpaca and cotton stuffed toys will not perform like polyester fiber-fill. We cannot throw these in the washer and dryer carelessly. Special care is required.

Light Clean: Spot clean with a damp cloth & disinfect with sunshine.

Deep Clean Animals: Locate cord at stuffing opening on toy’s underside. Release the stuffing opening and remove stuffing. Hand wash separately and air dry.
Place stuffing in a mesh bag, submerge in a bath of vinegar water and soak gently for thirty minutes. *Do not agitate or wring-out the stuffing. Drain water, air dry and fluff. Re-stuff and close stuffing opening.

* Dolls should be spot cleaned, whitened with oxygen whitener and disinfect with sunshine.

*Blanket Washing Instructions

Hand wash and dry flat in the shade.

*Smaller stuffed toys can be spot cleaned, hand-washed and air dried.
