Simka Sol è la creatura artistica della graphic designer Sara (Simcha) Charles.

Sara ha sapientemente sintetizzato design di superfici, serigrafia e moda in una vivace linea di abbigliamento, arte e arredamento per la casa che mette in mostra le sue stampe e opere d'arte inconfondibili. Il suo stile grafico audace e i suoi disegni, a tratti macabri ma anche terreni, sono facilmente riconoscibili e molto ricercati.

Laureata al Massachusetts College of Art and Design ('07), ha saputo far crescere con cura la sua attività negli ultimi 14 anni. Onorata di essere una venditrice in evidenza su Etsy e di essere stata protagonista di un articolo di approfondimento su Etsy dedicato al tema "Lascia il tuo lavoro", le sue opere sono state pubblicate su numerose riviste come Magnolia Journal Magazine, Apartment Therapy, Business Insider e ha avuto l'emozione di vedere le sue creazioni esposte sui set di due importanti sitcom della ABC.


• Produzione responsabile
Da quando ho imparato la serigrafia, ho modificato il processo e l'ho personalizzato esponendo i telai alla luce del sole durante il giorno, eliminando così la necessità di lampade UV e di elettricità. Questo processo, così dipendente dall'ambiente, mi ha aiutato a rallentare in un mondo frenetico, a respirare a fondo e ad apprezzare ciò che la natura ci offre sotto forma di strumenti naturali.

Utilizzo esclusivamente inchiostri ecologici a base d'acqua, privi di VOC nocivi, PVC o altre sostanze tossiche, risultando quindi sicuri sia per l'ambiente che per l'utente. Stiamo valutando anche opzioni di stampa a energia solare per il 2015!

Sono lieta di annunciare che offro tessuti prodotti negli Stati Uniti, nonché miscele biologiche importate certificate, raccolte e lavorate nel rispetto di rigorose linee guida ambientali e delle normative WRP (Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production). I nostri tessuti biologici sono completamente certificati da IMO, Control Union, OCIA, NOP o Ecocer e tinti con coloranti reattivi a basso impatto ambientale. Le miscele biologiche importate sono prodotte in stabilimenti dove i lavoratori operano in un ambiente sano, sicuro e ben curato; ricevono una formazione adeguata, sono trattati con rispetto, sono retribuiti equamente e hanno diritto all'assicurazione sanitaria, al congedo per malattia e al congedo di maternità. Non viene impiegato lavoro minorile.

La maggior parte dei nostri tessuti viene prodotta negli Stati Uniti, come indicato nelle pagine dei prodotti. Ordiniamo i tessuti in grandi quantità per ridurre l'impatto ambientale dei trasporti e per offrire un prodotto continuo e di qualità costante.
Tutti i nostri capi realizzati a mano vengono cuciti a circa 3 metri di distanza dal punto in cui vengono stampati a mano nel mio studio.

Ogni articolo del negozio è realizzato a mano nel mio studio di casa, dall'idea iniziale al prodotto finito. Ogni fase della lavorazione è completata dalle mie mani e ogni prodotto è speciale e unico.

Simka Sol is the art child of graphic designer Sara (Simcha) Charles.

Sara synthesized surface pattern design, screen printing and fashion into a fervid line of clothing, art and home decor that exhibits her distinctive prints and artworks. Her bold graphic style and earthly yet occasionally macabre designs are easily recognizable and wildly sought-after.

A graduate of Massachusetts College of Art and Design ('07), She has thoughtfully grown her business over the past 14 years. Honored to be an Etsy Featured Seller and an Etsy Quit Your Day Job article spotlight, her works have been published in numerous publications such as Magnolia Journal Magazine, Apartment Therapy, Business Insider and has had the thrill of selling her art for display on two major ABC sitcom sets.


• Responsible Manufacturing
Since learning how to screen print I've modified the process and made it my own by exposing my screens in the daytime sun, which eliminates the need for uv exposure units and electricity. This process which is so dependent on the environment has helped me slow down in a fast paced "now" world, take a deep breath and appreciate what nature gives us as natural tools.

I also print using only eco-friendly water based inks, which contain NO harmful VOC's, PVC or any other harmful toxic substances, making them safe for environment as well as the user. We are looking into solar options for 2015!

I am excited to announce that I offer USA milled fabrics as well as certified imported organic blends, harvested and manufactured under strict environmental and Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production guidelines. Our organic offerings are fully certified by IMO, Control Union, OCIA, NOP or Ecocer and and dyed with low impact, fiber reactive dyes. Imported organic blends are manufactured in mills where workers operate in a well maintained, healthy and safe environment; they are well trained for their jobs; they are treated with respect; they are paid fairly and are provided with health insurance, sick and maternity leave benefit. No child labor is used.

Majority of our fabrics are milled in the USA and are noted as to which on product pages. We order our fabric in large quantities to reduce our shipping footprint and in order to offer a continual and consistent product.
All of our handmade garments are sewn 10 feet from where they are hand printed in my studio.

Every item in the shop is handmade in my home studio, from the initial idea, to the finished product. Each item's process is completed by my hands and each product is special and unique.
