5 out of 5 starsI was looking for thumbless wool mittens for my baby and came across BarkingDogDesigns - I'm so glad I did! These 75 wool/25 nylon warm mittens were exactly what I needed and are beautifully crafted! They were thoughtfully packaged along with the beanie/mitten set I ordered (and loved) too! Thank you!

5 out of 5 starsWe love this scarf so much we’ve gotten three! I get so many compliments and questions about where I purchased this for my toddler since the pull through element makes it stay put unlike other scarves. I also have one for my baby girl and it’s perfect. These are adorable and so sweet. Love them!
About BarkingDogDesigns
-
I enjoy knitting socks and mittens with the traditional, in-the-round method -- on 4 to 5 small diameter needles
-
Crocheting is very different from knitting -- the stitches are formed with one hook instead of two or more needles
-
Part of my yarn stash. The yarn speaks to me and responds when I find the right pattern.

Knitting & Crocheting Deep in the Heart of Texas
Although I hail from southeastern Wisconsin (on Lake Michigan about one hour north of Chicago), I have lived in Texas for more than 42 years. After living in Houston the majority of that time, I sold my 1,900-square-foot home and gave away my furniture. I now live high atop a "hilltain" (it's higher than a hill, but not quite a mountain) in a remote rural corner of the Texas Hill Country in a tiny handmade house that my husband and I built with our own hands.
I am a retired professional graphic designer with a BFA in Fine Arts and have been sewing and creating needlework for more than 58 years. My mom taught me the basics of knitting, crocheting, and sewing when I was very young, but I am mostly self-taught. Over the years, I have earned the coveted title of TKGA Master Hand Knitter, became a Craft Yarn Council of America certified knitting instructor, and completed the Crochet Guild of America Master of Advanced Crochet Stitches and Techniques program.
As a perfectionist by nature, I hold myself to very high standards. If I am not pleased with the final outcome of a project, you won't find it in my shop. All of this means you can expect a well made product — one that has uniform stitches and with all of the loose ends securely woven into the work — that has been created with pride from high quality materials.
How did the name Barking Dog Designs originate? The name is a spin-off from Barking Dog Graphics, the name of my graphic design studio, which was named in honor our cocker spaniel, Georgette. In her role as the official receptionist and greeter, she woofed and eagerly wagged her tail at everyone who came to the door.
At the suggestion of my youngest daughter, I became an Etsy seller more than eleven years ago.

I'm basically young at heart and having four young granchildren keeps me connected to the latest kids' styles. I also love bright vivid colors and enjoy experimenting with different types of yarns and textures.
