About

Welcome to Barton Burns! Every purchase helps fund international Physical Therapy medical missions!

Hello! My name is Erica Barton and I am a Physical Therapist from sunny Southern California. I started dabbling in soy candles and succulents when my husband, Anthony (also a Physical Therapist), was on a medical missions trip! I also started working with cement. I love making pretty things, so I created Barton Burns a couple years later to help fund our future medical missions trips. On these trips, we will be collaborating with other medical providers to help restore our patients to optimal function! Everything you see is all eco-friendly and hand crafted by me!

Here at Barton Burns, we can ensure you are getting an eco-friendly burn! We use 100% cotton braided wicks that are lead & zinc free. Our soy candles are made using wax from American grown soy beans and delicately infused with non-toxic, phthalate-free essential and fragrance oils of the highest quality. No harsh chemicals or harmful carcinogens floating in the air for us! Barton Burns candles are made in small batches of just three to four candles at a time, allowing us to pay attention to the smallest details. We package our candles using kraft paper and boxes made from recycled materials. We hope you find what you are looking for!

Thank you for visiting our shop and supporting medical missions!
Love,
Erica

Frequently asked questions
Care instructions

Always trim the wick to ¼ inch before lighting for the best burn. To prevent tunneling, be sure not to blow out your candle until it has burned a melt pool all the way to the edge of the container (usually 1-2 hours). Always burn candle within sight and on a level surface. Keep away from drafts and vibrations. Keep out of reach from children and pets. Do not burn more than 4 hours at a time.

If you are looking to recycle your candle containers, scrape out the remaining candle wax with a spoon and use rubbing alcohol and a paper towel to wipe the container clean.

Gift wrapping and packaging

We package our candles using kraft paper and boxes made from recycled materials. All bubble wrap is eco-friendly.

Soy wax after settling

It is possible for some candles to develop a light flaky appearance once the melt pool has settled after burning your candle. Many soy candle enthusiasts look for this as an indicator that the candle is made from pure soy.

Cement Containers

You may notice your cement container has tiny holes around the edges. No worries, these are caused from tiny air bubbles that occur when cement is mixed by hand! Each cement container has been treated with a non-toxic, non-hazardous sealer.

Wholesale availability

We love making candles for weddings, businesses, and gifts! Certain quantity requirements must be met for wholesale availability. Please contact us and tell us what you are looking for!

What medical mission teams have been supported?

So far, portions of the proceeds have gone to Azusa Pacific University's TEAM KENYA 2018 and my husband and I are also saving up to go to Kenya in 2019!
