About

handknit accessories : all natural fibers : crazy love

Some businesses are strictly business. Others are more of a hobby...others are mostly ministry. Some are a blend of various passions and pursuits beyond the bottom line. For our family, Baruch's Lullaby began as a source of extra giving to causes we care about and also a way to knock out extra principal on our mortgage like nobody's business.

At least, until we went crazy.

Crazy love, you know.

Crazy about two kids who need a home and a family...and we wanted to be that for them. Home. Family.

So extra mortgage payments were put aside and we learned to make sushi at home. We cut out our Chinese food dates and I didn't cut my hair for over a year. Little things. Peripherals. What value do you put on those things when you've seen the need of children worldwide? What ransom do you pay for a child?

I knitted our way through adoption dossier fees, notary fees, and agency fees, and we raised funds for plane tickets and our attorney. Lots of mittens, lots of hats, lots of knitterly goodness from Alaska went all over the world for two kids in Eastern Europe.

After an emotional two and a half year pregnancy with two six-year-olds (not for the faint of heart!) we brought them home. For good, forever. You can read about us and the journey of healing at www.copperlightwood.com.

There are up to 200 million more children across the world who need families to love them. So we keep praying. I keep knitting. And we'll raise as much as we can to see them come home to their families, too.

  • Shannon

    Owner, Maker, Designer, Mama

Homeschooling mama of six sweet kids. Lifelong Alaskan. Loves Jesus, writing, tea, coffee, sushi, and Dickens. Occasionally caught snapping a kitchen towel at Mr. Baruch's.

  • Little Miss

Model, Mommy's Alarm Clock And Exercise Program

Our littlest Lullaby. She likes singing, stories, and running around the house in her skivvies. Fears nothing but Grandpa's motorcycle.

  • Big Red

    Model, Comic Relief

Strong, silent type. Surprises us with gems like, 'Oh, you're eating those yummy leftovers? Actually, I didn't like 'em, but I didn't want ta hurt yer feelings.'

  • the Professor

    Model, Research And Development

Our quality control guy. If our hats can survive him, they can survive anyone.

  • the Princess

Model, Girly Girl, Big Sister Extraordinaire

Loves glitter, lace, castles, and an abundance of bling-y hair accessories. But watch out, 'cause she carries a pink watergun in her purse.

  • Mr. Baruch's

Moral Support, Dinner Chef, Personal Driver

My very own Mr. Darcy, Rhett Butler, and Gilbert Blythe, wrapped in one very nice package. He's a scoundrel with a sweet side.

Thanks for visiting Baruch's Lullaby! Everything we sell is handmade by me (Shannon) in our smoke-free home. We do have two cats, but they are not allowed to help with the knitting. :)

Thanks!

We don't work on Sundays, so if you order something or send a convo on Sunday, I will reply Monday morning (Alaska time). I do try to post new things on Saturday nights, though, which will have a Sunday "post date" on them due to the time difference.

Payment
We accept Paypal, personal checks, and money orders. Your purchase will be shipped once we have received payment. Since Etsy and Paypal both send receipts upon purchase, I do not include an additional invoice with your order unless you specifically request one - we will not clutter up your life with duplicate records.

And in case you were wondering...there is NO state sales tax in Alaska. Yay!
Shipping
We ship through USPS First Class for both domestic and international orders, and our orders go out throughout the week, within three business days of purchase. Every order comes with delivery confirmation, and I'm happy to upgrade/expedite shipping if you contact me before your purchase. Our items generally arrive to their US destination within 4-5 days (sometimes a little longer during the Christmas season).

We love shipping internationally and have shipped to every continent except Antarctica! For international orders, please keep in mind that customs policies vary and we cannot predict how soon your order will arrive or what any customs charges might be. The customer is responsible for any customs fees.
Refunds and Exchanges
Items still in new condition may be refunded within two weeks of purchase. Return shipping is the buyer's responsibility, and once we receive it in new condition, we will mail the refund minus the original shipping cost.

Custom orders and PDF patterns are final sale.

About mittens...
Yes, I am happy to add a connecting string to your pair of mittens! The cost is $2.50/pair for a crocheted chain or $6/pair for a knitted cord. Please request a custom order for this (specifying chain or cord) and I will be thrilled to put one together for you.
