About

Creative Shenanigans and Artful Adventures!

I began playing with color in 2007 when I decided to teach myself to dye so I could make a few items I'd wanted. What began as a plan to dye ten veils has turned into dyeing close to 900--plus almost 5000 scarves! From my humble kitchen where all the silks are "born" I have had the amazing fortune to send my veils and scarves to live in 37 states and 20 countries! I never dreamed my work would travel so far!

Despite lots of practice, I still call what I do my "Great Silk Experiment" because I'm always learning new things and no matter how hard I try, nothing ever turns out the same way twice. Although I do my best to create a controlled environment, dyeing is rife with variables which make each item decidedly unique.

Over the course of my Great Silk Experiement I've come to realize that dyeing really is a perfect creative outlet for me. It is an art, but it is equally a science. It appeals to the part of me that likes to create and dream, but it also speaks equally to my (extremely!) logical side.

In the spring and summer I vend at art festivals throughout the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. From mid-August to the end of September I can be found at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival where I spend seven weekends emersed in creative shenanigans and artful adventures! 2013 will mark my third year as an artisan\owner at the Festival.

Welcome to Lady of the Lake Silks! All items here are carefully hand-crafted by and are designed for everyone who enjoys a splash of color in their lives!

I've been playing with color since 2007, focusing primarily on silk. What began as a plan to dye ten veils has turned into thousands of veils and scarves. I vend at art festivals throughout the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and am proud to have a booth at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. Most of all, I am delighted to have veils and scarves finding their way across the US and into over 23 countries!

Beyond dyeing silk I also have experience with serti silk painting, marbling fabric, traditional batik, and dyeing dynamic cottons for quilters.

I believe in creating a quality product at an affordable price. My hand-washable silks are all steam set for colorfastness and given reasonable care and handling, they will live long and vibrant lives!

Payment
I accept Paypal within five days of purchase. After that time the item will be relisted so that someone else may have an opportunity to purchase it.
Shipping
Items are shipped via USPS, generally within three business days of your payment's arrival. Due to the frequency with which things get lost in the mail, delivery confirmation is included in the cost of mailing.

If you are local to my area and would like to arrange delivery/pick up, please contact me to discuss.

Email me regarding international orders.
Refunds and Exchanges
Your satisfaction is my goal. If you are dissatisfied, please contact me within three days of your package's arrival so that I can make things right. In most cases I will have you return the item (postmarked within five business days and in original packaging) for a refund or exchange. Item must be in same condition as when shipped. Natural body oils and skin lotions, as well as scents and perfumes, deposit on silk very easily so handle your items carefully until you are sure you wish to keep them.

Representing exact colors and textures is difficult over the web but I do my best to describe things accurately and honestly and I include several photos to assist you in making your selection. Remember, however, that monitors all display colors slightly differently.

As is standard on most sites, return postage will be the responsibility of the buyer. Original post charges will not be refunded.
