About

Used and Loved Worldwide - My Baskets, that is....

I use fibre rush in my garlic and onion baskets. Fibre rush was invented in the late 19th century to meet the needs of the wicker furniture industry - as an alternative to natural reed. One of my first mentors taught me to use this material for garlic baskets. I've woven many classic baskets from natural reed, but I found that my paper garlic baskets are in great demand. I designed matching onion baskets and they are the most useful thing I make. Not limited to onions - I use them for citrus fruit in the Winter and apples in the Fall. Tough, durable and easy to keep clean, this line of storage items has been developed over the 3 decades that I've been making baskets.

I sold a huge box full of onion baskets to a production company with BBC TV in August 2014.
4 years later, I have finally located a scene decorated with my baskets. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to capture a still of that to put here in my shop. However, I can tell you to find it on Hulu," Atlantis" (BBC), Season 2, Episode 13, 29:44. Look around the room and count them - I saw 8!!! Very fun to see how they were used.
