I love everything about this little brooch. Deftly painted and fun. I think I'll need to become a regular customer. Thank you

About

Unique ceramic jewelry creatures

We are a family of artists from Lithuania, a country near the Baltic Sea. We moved from the capital to the wonderful farmstead surrounded by trees, hills and blowing winds. Here we create ceramic jewelry. Both we are metalworkers - blacksmith and jeweler. But now we both work with ceramics, just on our own way. We both like to draw illustrations, make up stories. Our works are full of these colorful tales. However, we always want what our customers themselves, seeing brooch, earrings or something else could imagine their own stories...
We are inspired by mythology, folklore, ethnology, literature, poetry, and interesting real or imaginary stories. There are lots of forest , lakes, fields spirits. We love colours - it creates a special mood, even if it is only black and white.
Technique that we use is called sgraffito. This is a unique, needle-decorated engobe technique, where a top layer of color is scratched to reveal a colour beneath. Due to this method of creation, uniqueness is inherent in each one-of-a-kind piece.
We are very happy to create what we love. It brings into our lives wonderful new acquaintance, experience and happiness.

We are a family of artists utilizing a variety of techniques and materials . While we started out as a professional jeweler and a blacksmith, recently our artistic path has led us to ceramics full-time.
It is in this gallery that you will find our latest clay creations we decorated using needle-etched engobe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engobe technique. Even though engobe-decorated ceramic wares have been around since ancient times and are found across the world in various cultures, we have put our own modern spin on this technique by infusing it with our jewelry-derived experience. This leads to unique works of art, decorated with a level of detail and precision that we have not noticed much in ceramics trends.
Our imaginary creatures and decorative motifs are mostly inspired by Baltic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Lithuanian_gods mythology, Lithuanian folklore, world art history and various religions, literature.
