About me:
I'm a painter, printmaker, and blogger living in California - born and raised in New England.

Growing up, my family was Colorful and Creative; lots of music, tinkering and inventing, drawing and painting, building and carving, gardening, cooking, and eating, etc. I feel very fortunate for that "make something" early influence.

Now, making things has become my livelihood, and I paint watercolors and create small editions of hand-pulled woodcuts, linocuts, and collagraphs with a Takach etching press in my California studio.

About the art:
Quiet, calming scenes appeal to me. I paint moments of squinty sunlight flooding a window to sneak under a glass vase of flowers. Or a figure, painted in a reclined gesture on a cozy chair with a good book.

A busy life can toss a few assaults on our senses: noise, the weight of obligations and deadlines, the flurry of day-to-day schedules, and people who direct us, and depend on us, etc.

But there are also the lovely things in our daily rituals that we might miss in all the hustle-bustle, and those are the moments I like to paint, carve and make prints about.

Adding to the loveliness-ratio of a busy day, by painting the quieter passages, to bring them forward and render them into a larger, more visible part of Home gives me an enormous sense of satisfaction.

As an avid art collector, hanging moments of contemplative art on our walls is like lining your nest with a little more Peaceful.
