I'm Missy. I am the founder and owner of Beach Blues Home Décor. Originally re-purposing old furniture, I had an idea in 2011 to hand-paint and distress mason jars in order to give them a shabby chic look. I scoured the internet and could not find this hand-painted, rustic and distressed look anywhere.

When I started my Etsy shop in 2012, I was the only one selling painted mason jars. My jars became so popular, that my hobby turned into a full-time job.

I now make them for a variety of clients. From brides who want centerpieces for weddings, to college students who want to spruce up their dorm room, and of course for home décor.

I am amazed that my jars have been around the world! I’ve shipped them to dozens of countries including Australia, England, Italy, France, Germany, Sweden, Brazil, Russia and the list goes on and on. I love that we are able to surround ourselves with beauty and color, no matter where we live. We can bring a little bit of that beachy vibe into our homes in the middle of land-locked Minnesota or in the vast desserts of the Middle East.

Because of my love of all things beach and ocean, I have taken literally hundreds of water and ocean photos over the years. Because GOD is the greatest Artist of all, it seems that no 2 sunsets are alike. No 2 ocean views are alike. There is always a new color combination to be found and nature is the greatest color palette we have. I have managed to find some amazing paint colors that represent my love of the ocean. I find inspiration from the colors of the sea, sky, clouds and landscapes and then transfer that onto mason jars.

I pair a combination of jars with the photo that inspired me. At times you will see a beach photo among my jar listings (Look in my "Shop Updates") Sometimes my combinations are found on accident, sometimes there are inspired by my awesome customers. However they were created, I hope that I can brighten homes, weddings, events and offices around the world with a little bit of color from nature and especially the ocean and its surroundings.
