beachcomberceramics' Shop Announcement

Aloha! Beachcomber Ceramics is on Facebook (beachcomberceramics) and Instagram (alenemurphy)! Follow us there to see how stuff is made, previews of new designs, and everything else!

My husband, Tiki tOny, and I, Alene Schultz-Murphy, started Beachcomber ceramics with tOny's first tiki mug, Fatutu, in 2005. Since then, we've made a lot of tikis and started a new line of ceramics. We'd like to present A Modern Tropical Ocean! Inspired by the amazing vintage bathroom wall fish, these fish each have their own personality and style. In the 1950's and 60's the very popular wall fish adorned many bathrooms. I always picture a perfect pink bath with matching sink and toilet, and of course, a set of wall fish! Our retro fish are the cherry on top of the cake for any vintage inspired room.

Our mission at Beachcomber Ceramics is to create unique and hand-made, vintage-inspired works. There is a long process to create each piece: creating the design, sculpting the original, pouring a plaster mold, casting in clay, and glazing are some of the steps. Obsessed with vintage designs, I pull from my favorites while adding my own twist. I love that each piece takes on it's own personality with each step. This also means there are many variations and some imperfection. This is what makes each piece special!
