HOT SNOWMEN! Batch of snowmen ornaments coming out of the bisque fire. It takes 24 hours to complete the firing cycle, including cool down. These are still too hot to lift with an ungloved hand.
After 3 coats of gloss glaze they are fired again.
Almost finished tying the cord on the pine branch ornaments!

About

BeachwoodStreet Designs - Why I started my small, Artist Owned Business

When both sets of my grandparents made their homes in a small coastal community, it was the 1930's and they had no way of knowing the legacy they would leave behind would be a love for the beach and all that surrounds it. As a young girl in the 1960’s, I enjoyed many summers visiting my grandparents and spending endless hours at the beach.

In 1989 I started my pottery business in order to stay home and raise a family. My slab built pottery is slump molded on beach stones and impressed with shells and flowers. As my business soared, my work was sold throughout the country in many storefronts. My cranberry pottery line was carried by Ocean Spray’s “Cranberry World Visitors Center” and shipped worldwide.

Although I still create pottery, I have scaled back production after my husband and I downsized to a smaller home along the coast. The shoreline I walk daily with my dogs is the one I played on as a child. The stories of hurricanes and homes swept out to sea are always on my mind when I find unique ocean tumbled shards of glass, pottery and bricks. Sharing the history and simple beauty of the sea treasures I find is why I opened BeachwoodStreet Designs, an artist owned business I operate from a loft looking over picturesque Buzzards Bay.

Everything created in my shop is designed and handmade by me. I am a native New Englander who has enjoyed creating art of natural mediums since 1989. My family tree dates back to the 1600's and includes both the Mayflower Pilgrims and Native Americans. Samoset, who befriended the Pilgrims, is my 11th great grandfather. It is often my ancestry that inspires my original artistic designs.

Please enjoy browsing my designs. And may you always have a shell in your pocket and a love for the ocean in your heart!
