About

Hi, my name is Donna and I have a wonderful husband, John. We live in a rural mountain community in Southern Colorado where my daughter and her 3 boys and son and his wife and 4 boys and 1 daughter also live. Frequent trips are made to Kansas to see eldest son, wife and 3 boys and to Oregon to see youngest daughter and husband and my youngest grandson. As you can tell, family is very important to me—and yes that is 11 grandsons and 1 granddaughter! As I have matured over the years I found that if I was to find time to create I needed to get my priorities in order – God, Family, Serving Others’ Needs, and yes finally creating! I needed that balance – and yes, I am a list maker too!

I have enjoyed crafts for as long as I can remember, at first to personally enjoy and later to make an extra income. It all started by going rockhounding with my parents. I have my own lapidary equipment including a rock tumbler, large saw, trim saw, and a complete lapidary unit plus a silversmith set up. There is so much satisfaction to be able to start with a “rock” and end up with a personally designed piece of jewelry. Of course, not all pieces I make use components that are solely made by me. I love to bead, and some of my favorite beads, Kazuri Beads, also help to support a humanitarian cause. I also make some of my own glass beads and ceramic beads and focal pieces.

I love every aspect of making jewelry—beading, working with metal by forging, stamping, enameling, and etching, making those special findings to assemble my pieces, doing Kumihimo braiding, using found objects and working with leather.

Color is one of the greatest factors of inspiration for my work and I love sparkles and bling! I am also inspired by the beauty found in my backyard here in the Southern Colorado Mountains: the wildlife and wildflowers, sunsets, sunrises, the calm, and peace found in the woods, that snow blizzard or thunderstorm.

When in the “studio” you will find me working in clay (I am also a potter and you can find my pottery at twinmountainpottery.Etsy.com ) or at the silversmith bench or etching a piece of metal. When beading or putting pieces together I work in my office which is free of the clay dust. My home is a smoke free environment, but I do have furry assistants!

Thank you for visiting my shop. May you receive as much pleasure and joy from my jewelry as I have in creating them.
