About

From hobby to profession....

I started lampworking in early 2009, after visiting a UK gathering called the Flame Off and having a go. Back at home, and with the kit in place, I spent hours at the torch, practising and playing, until the summer, when my kid's Teachers were all on the receiving end of glass jewellery gifts, and someone asked me if I sold my beads. I decided that since there was no way I could possibly wear them all, (and we were running out of teachers!), maybe I should start to sell.

I started an online shop, and soon had a nice customer base of jewellery makers from all over the world purchasing my beads.

As a family we relocated to West Wales, and I am now lucky enough to have a dedicated studio for my lampwork. I took the decision to move my sales to Etsy in 2010, as I wanted to spend more time at the torch, and less time trying to move my webshop up the rankings.

I count myself as incredibly lucky, when in February 2018, I found myself in the fortunate position of being able to become a full time glass beadmaker . A retail premises became available in our local town, and my business partner and I took it on under the branding of Saltwater Studio Pembroke. I now spend my working day happily at the torch, and demonstrating to the public.

I'm always happy to take commissions, and love to hear your feedback or ideas for new beads.
