5 out of 5 starsYears ago I had a copy of this book and lent it away. I've just gotten another copy and reread the whole thing. Mary's words are so beautiful, and I love that she learned to paint first to illustrate her books, then because she enjoyed it. Her watercolors of Lake Michigan are filled with juicy "edible colors" that she painted from her window. And being from a Florida beach, I loved seeing the snow and ice on her beach during the winter.
