About

Letter Lover

For as long as I can remember, I've loved handwriting and typography. I could look at old letters for hours at a time, noticing the nuances and ways that letters are formed. I could look at labeling for days, dissecting the type used. I'm one of *those* people that names off fonts as I pass by them on the roadside or store aisles.

I always thought it would be such a cool thing to make fonts & see my lettering in very public places, t-shirts, or brands. For the longest time, I was simply the designer -- the logo designer, the business card designer, the graphic designer -- until I finally decided it was time. Now, I'm the font designer *and* graphic designer!

Additional policies and FAQs
FONT LICENSING:
- Personal Use - a good example of personal use is installing this font on your computer, and using it in your editing programs for your own creations, using in a Word document, or creating your own printable items with my font.
- Small Commercial Use - a good example of small commercial use is creating a printable (flattened) design for sale, using in your client’s logo (without giving them the files for their own use, of course!), or making a t-shirt for sale with the font you purchased.

In addition, I allow the use of the font you purchase on your own website, and I’ve included the webfont files for you.

Extended use + embedding licenses are available. This can include:
- broadcast use of my font
- embedding in an app or program like Templett
- server installation

Purchase the extended use + embedding license here:

SVGs:
- Personal Use - Purchasing this allows for unlimited personal use. Personal use is defined as making something for yourself, or making something for a friend as a gift.

If you plan to sell a final end-product using this design, you will need to add on a small commercial use license. This means if you plan to make a coffee mug or a t-shirt using this file, and place the coffee mug or t-shirt up for sale, you will need a commercial license.

Purchase the commercial license here:

OVERALL LICENSING STATEMENT:
Under no circumstances should the files you purchase be transferred to another person, regardless of the license type. You may not share, transfer, e-mail, or send the files you purchase to someone else for their use. You may not rename the files and sell as your own. You may not convert to another file type and re-sell the digital good.

Frequently asked questions
Will your fonts work on a Mac or PC?

Both! The font files I provide are standard .otf and/or .ttf files, which may be used on both a Mac or a PC.

Please keep in mind that the majority of my fonts have special features that may not be easily accessible in a word processor -- to have the best user experience, please used a program like Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop. Although my fonts can be used in Pages or Word, you will likely need to use FontBook (Mac) or Character Map (PC) to copy/paste special characters into the program you're using.

Can your fonts be used with a vinyl cutting machine like Cricut or Silhouette?

Yes! Machines like this utilize standard file types, which are included in your purchase. If the fonts don't show up in your program immediately after installation, it's recommended that you sign out + sign back in, or restart your program. While you can use the fonts to make cut files, you may not convert my fonts into files for cutting to resell them.

How do I install fonts?

It's easy peasy in most cases -- usually a simple double-click to bring up a dialog box and instruct your machine to install! For more extensive instructions, check out my blog post here: https://beckmccormick.com/installing-fonts/

Do you make totally custom fonts?

Sure do! Drop me a message for a quote if you're interested in commissioning your own one-of-a-kind font.

Can you design me a logo?

For sure! Hop on over to my other Etsy shop, where we can take care of all of your branding & website design needs.

How do I access the special features in the font?

Some fonts include OpenType features, best accessed through programs that support OpenType features like Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator -- you can access them through the Glyphs panel!

Ligatures, swashes, and other special characters may also be (tediously) accessed through a standard character map and copy/pasted. It is highly recommended that you understand what you are purchasing before you do so -- the extra characters WILL take some hunting down if you don't have easy-access software like Adobe products.

For more extensive instruction, check out my blog post on OpenType features here: https://beckmccormick.com/accessing-opentype-features/

Can you help me with my SVG file?

While I am over-the-moon delighted to design hand-lettered SVG files, I can't offer support for the files or the software of your choice that you use or vinyl cutting. The best suggestion I can offer is to reach out to the manufacturer of your machine + related software to troubleshoot any issues.
