Topaz is one of my favorite stones and my new bracelet is stunning. The deep blue compliments wonderfully the light blues. I will enjoy showing off this item. I'll shop again.
Come experience the magic!
Nestled in a quiet valley and well hidden amongst the shadows of the towering chalk cliffs on the southern coast of England, you’ll find the quaint little village of Edgerton. Picturesque, thatched roofed homes line cobbled streets, their multi-colored front doors serve to distinguish one from another. During the summer months, when the weather is mild, a bevy of art galleries and bespoke boutiques in Town Centre attract a steady contingent of tourists. At night, those who manage to procure a room at the lone village inn mingle with the good-natured townspeople. They fill their bellies with authentic fare from the chip shop and enjoy a pint or two from the pub next door.Buskers position themselves throughout the Town Centre, some strumming guitars and singing Olde-English ballads, others reciting Shakespeare in colorful costume, each one with a hat at their feet to collect a pence or two. The Egerton Cross, an imposing, perpendicular stone structure built in 15th century and given to the village as gift from the local bishops, stands sentry, keeping watch over the joyous and carefree activity. The large clock embedded at the top the structure tolls loudly on the hour and at half-past, a stern reminder that all good things must eventually come to an end.
On the outskirts of this village, just beyond a wide swath of bright green pasture and down a winding cobblestone pathway, a tiny cottage sits. Unkempt floral bushes grow wildly, blooming in a riot of colors. Lush green ivy creeps haphazardly up its limestone walls, covering most of the windows and giving the illusion of abandonment, though you’d be wrong to believe that narrative. If you duck under the low hanging roses attached to branches that cover a wooden arbor and continue down the pathway, you’ll find a greenhouse attached to the rear of the cottage. And it is within this structure where magic resides.
Enter the glass enclosure and leave the cool, crisp English air for a fragrant utopia. Majestic citrus trees, their branches heavy with fruit, their glossy leaves brushing against the uppermost glass panes, welcome you with a heady, tropical aroma. Potted herbs and floral varieties of all sorts grow in several sections throughout the space, thriving in their transplanted home. Displays of handcrafted jewelry and jars of body butters and bath salts are interspersed throughout each section. In the center of this bevy of botanicals sits a large, well-worn farmhouse table with a vintage copper pot rack hanging above. In place of pots, strands of semi-precious stones hang from its hooks, sparkling brightly in the rays of sun that filters in. It is at this table, strewn with gems and metals, where you’ll find Honey Beatrice Harrington, an American Ex-pat, head bowed, body bent, hard at work on her latest creation.
Honey Bea will welcome you with an enveloping hug and gracious smile, inviting you to stay as long as you like. She’ll give you the space to peruse her unique items, but she’s never so far that she can’t offer a suggestion or two to guide you toward the perfect purchase. You’re sure to find a pair of earrings or an infused body butter that speaks to you. On chillier days, a fire may be crackling in the two-sided fireplace. If you peer through the roaring flames, you might catch a glimpse of her tidy kitchen and the hallway that leads to her private residence. On those days, she’s sure to offer you a cup of tea and insist that you sample a cookie or two from the batch she’s just made. If you’re lucky, she might even usher you to the overstuffed sofa nearby, and regale you with a tale or two from her many adventures traveling the globe. But be forewarned - when you finally do take your leave with your purchases (and a package of cookies for your travels), you might be surprised at how much time has passed and you may feel a tinge of regret. Honey Bea always has a special way of making you feel more like family than a patron. You’ll definitely look forward to a return trip, sooner rather than later.
There’s something always buzzing at the House of Honey Bea. Come inside, have a cuppa and experience the magic.
