About

Jewelry for the wandering, inspiring heart. Unique pieces; beautiful colors; edgy elements; find your beautiful joy!

My name is Katie. I'm a 30-something year old who just can't seem to stop dreaming about bigger and better things in life. I fall more and more in love with growing every day and I live for adventures - big or small. I was born and raised in the deep southern parts of Louisiana but moved to Dallas, Texas a few years ago. I also have a small addiction to new and exciting things. Belle Joie Designs (which means "beautiful joy" in French) was birthed back in the summer of 2014 out of my own need to express creativity and desire to be an entrepreneur. What started out as simple beaded bar necklaces has since evolved into so much more!

Ever since I was a little girl, I have been drawn to intricate details of Native American jewelry. Everything from the colors to the patterns to the beadwork just enraptured me; I now proudly blame this on my own Native roots. As my jewelry line evolved from seed bead bars to gemstone pieces, I couldn't shake the feeling that it just wasn't fulfilling me. The reason I'd started in the first place was to try and create those designs I'd fallen in love with as a kid! Sure, I tried once in the very beginning but it ended up a tangled mess so I went for the easier route and it was no longer cutting it for me. A few years into my business, I decided it was time - I closed up shop for a few weeks and taught myself how to bead weave... and I haven't looked back since. Now I create hand-stitched jewelry, inspired by the Native American craft of bead weaving but with my own twist and flair.

Belle Joie Designs has grown into so much more than simply jewelry. It's a reminder to myself (and hopefully to you as well) that I am capable of much more than I could ever imagine. You are capable of beautiful things. When you purpose in your heart to go after your dreams, there isn't a single thing you can't do. To encourage you along your own journey and remind you of your greatness is my entire purpose here. My own hope is that every time you put on your piece of Belle Joie Designs jewelry, you're reminded of the significance and the importance of who you are. Who you are is loved. Who you are is beautiful. And who you are brings so much joy to this world.

Frequently asked questions

Care instructions

These items are entirely 100% handmade. As such, it's not uncommon to have a little unnoticeable quirk here or there, which helps make your item even more unique! As each item is hand-stitched, some exposed threads are normal and usually means you're looking at the back of the piece.

Metal reacts differently with each individual's acidity in their skin and will tarnish or change accordingly. To help prevent the oxidizing process, I recommend storing each piece away from any excess air and I do provide a small plastic bag in your box for safe keeping, should you need it. I cannot be held responsible for the reaction between the metal, your skin and any oxidizing but will try my best to help prevent it.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Each item is packaged in a card board jewelry box with "Belle Joie" written across the front of it. If this a gift for yourself or someone else, I would be happy to replace "Belle Joie" with the name of the individual at no extra cost to you! Just mention in the notes section of your order that you'd like a specific name (and of course provide me with that name).

Wholesale availability

I would be absolutely honored to provide a few pieces to be featured in your store. If you're interested in a possible wholesale relationship, please contact me either via Etsy message or at katie@bellejoiedesigns.com and we can discuss further.
