Michelle is fantastic! She worked with me at length to make sure my custom design was exactly the way I wanted it. The final product was absolutely stunning and was exactly what we'd dreamed of. My husband loved it and we couldn't be happier with the ring. If I could give Michelle 6 stars, I would. She's fantastic!

It's gorgeous! Exactly what I was looking for. Michelle was wonderful to work with and communicated with me throughout the whole process, sending me photos and asking for my input. Thank you!!

Beautiful and unique ring. I love it. Ordered with a bit of a tight schedule for our wedding in July. Despite the busy season, ring was completed and arrived with 3 weeks to spare. Can't wait for my fiancé to see it.

About

How I found my way to Jewelry fabrication

At a young age I discovered my passion for creating and construction. While my mom attended church, I would sit in the office and construct miniature models of cities and neighborhoods out of index cards, paper clips and masking tape. When I was 10 I discovered fimo-dough and started making my own beads and stringing necklaces and weaving friendship bracelets with colored yarn. At 17 I moved to Seattle from California and started working at a bead shop in Pike Place Market, where my curiosity and wonderment for gemstones came alive.

In 2000 I transferred to the University of Washington and began focusing on a general arts degree. After a year of being on a wait-list I finally got into the Introductory to Metals class course bring taught by Mary Lee Hu. After 2 classes I was completely hooked and began working towards a BFA in Metals and Jewelry fabrication. Forced to graduate in 2003 due to way to many credits, I launched my business, Michelle Lenae Jewelry.

As my business grew so did the prices of precious gems and metals. A few years back I decided I wanted to create a line of jewelry that could be approachable by everyone. I also wanted to create a line that speaks to my lifestyle. BentML was born.

BentML is jewelry created for men and women. It is about simple designs, cool textures and approachable prices. I love layering jewelry so there's tons of pieces within this shop that have been created just for that purpose. All metal is purchased recycled or I have recycled it in-house. Any stones I use have been purchased from US wholesalers who value the importance of responsible mining so they do their best to source these global gems from like-minded collectors and cutters.

Innately, I'm a hoarder... I blame it on my grandmother who doesn't have a blank space on her wall, so I end up collecting stones for years before I finally let them go and create a piece of jewelry with them. Slowly I'm pulling out stones I've had in my possession from 1998 when I first started collecting so keep checking back in as my collection will continue to grow and change with the seasons.

I specialize and favor creating custom jewelry. I love the entire process. I love meeting new people, hearing their stories, being trusted with their heirloom jewelry and collectively working with them to either build upon what was or create something new. Reclaiming/recycling old unworn jewelry- removing stones, melting the metal down and milling and forming it into something new for my clients. It's just plain awesome.

Nothing is more rewarding to me than taking an abstract idea I have in my mind and breathing life into it with my hands and some metal.
