I learned photography from my father the old-fashioned way: shooting on film and developing and printing them in the garage. My favorite subject at the time was nature—mostly birds and animals, but also landscapes, even though my country isn't very suitable for spectacular landscape photos.

I became a professional photographer when I was 22. Most of my work was for university newspapers. I also started attending workshops on working with nude models. Twenty years ago, I began my first big nude photography project: a calendar with students. I photographed the students in ways that showcased what they studied, like biology and law. I did this both outdoors and in my studio. Unfortunately, I wasn't thinking commercially enough to be successful at running my own business. I started working 9-5 in IT, but photography remained my biggest hobby.

In 2017, I turned my garage into a small studio and had some lovely shoots there. Because of how much I enjoyed these shoots, I started renting a professional studio again. I had some great shoots there as well (Nude in Nijmegen project), but then came COVID-19, and I was forced to give up my studio.

After a while, I started shooting in the beautiful nature around my house. A new project, 'Nearby Nature,' was born. I was very happy with the results, and I am glad that the resulting calendar is a favorite of many Etsy shoppers.

Today, I am still shooting mostly outdoors and experimenting with mixed techniques in the darkroom.
