About BerylBlue
Zookeeper by day, jewelry artist by night (and whenever else I have time).
The name BerylBlue comes from my favorite color and my interest in reading science fiction/fantasy novels. Beryls are often called elfstones. A beryl is used in the Lord of the Rings trilogy to indicate a route of safe passage. Beryls are also semi-precious gemstones - one example is aquamarine.
A few years back I was making wine charms to include in gifts for friends. Since earrings are so similar, I started making a few pairs. Once I made some earrings, I realized I had to make necklaces to match. Then on to bracelets, etc., etc. One year later, I opened my shop on Etsy!
Currently, I'm working toward a career as a zookeeper while continuing to exercise my creative side with BerylBlue. Working with animals and helping people connect with wildlife is makes me very happy, though it has its challenges. One of those challenges is having to move frequently to get enough experience in animal care to be able to get a permanent job. Though I am based in Madison, WI, I have lived in four states in the last two years - Wisconsin, California, Colorado and Louisiana.

All of my items are handmade by me and only me. As a result, there will be slight variations due to natural characteristics of the materials. All products are made in a smoke-free environment. If you don't see what you are looking for, convo me. I am happy to work with you on custom orders. I love the challenge and opportunity to create something unique for you!
Items are only described as fair trade if I am certain the source was fair trade. With semiprecious stones, it's not always possible to be sure of the source, but I do my best.
If you have metal sensitivities, I can change out most of the earring wires. I stock stainless steel and niobium earwires. Some designs aren't compatible with the earwires. I put a note in the item description if the design is not adaptable. Just send me a convo or a write it in the note to seller if you need the hypo-allergenic earwires. My goal is to make a product that fits your needs.
I do repairs of purchased items at no charge and if you lose one of a pair of earrings, I will make a replacement for you at half the original price of the pair - if I have the materials available. PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE SHIPPING to arrange repair of an item or replacement of an earring. You will only pay for the shipping to me - I do not charge extra for shipping back to you.
I have an email newsletter that goes out occasionally - never more than once a month. It includes EARLY NOTICE OF SALES and new listings. If you would like to be added to the list, please contact me.
Accepted payment methods
Returns and exchanges
If you want to return an item for refund or exchange, please contact me by convo or email WITHIN 45 DAYS from the date of shipment. Shipping charges are not refundable.
Payment
Wisconsin residents must pay sales tax on any purchase - it varies a little depending upon your county of residence. Please let me know if you think your sales tax rate is wrong.
Shipping
All international packages (except to Canada) are shipped USPS First Class. International packages are always insured - the cost is included in the shipping charge. International shipping usually takes 1-2 weeks but can take as long as 6-8 weeks.
Please let me know IMMEDIATELY if there is a problem with your delivery. In agreement with Etsy policies, problems must be reported WITHIN 45 DAYS of shipment.
Customers outside the US are responsible for all customs fees and charges.
I ship twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, unless I am at a craft fair or on vacation. Your package will be shipped on the first shipping day AFTER the item is completed AND payment is received. If you need something shipped immediately or need it faster than USPS, please contact me and I will do my best to accommodate your needs. If you prefer a different shipping method, please contact me to work out a solution.
