The end of soy. I’m finally ending my on-again off-again relationship with soy.

When my local farmer (who supplies me with much wisdom and most of my tallow from his free roaming, grass fed cows) mentioned that he wouldn’t allow any soy on his farm, it made me think. I have since read article after article, from farmers and scientists alike, on the probable dangers of GM soy and the hazards of the cancer causing herbicides that go along with it. Could I find organic, non-GMO soy? Theoretically, yes-- but 93% of the soy crops in America are planted with Monsanto’s Roundup Ready soybeans. The VAST majority of soy in America is not conducive to a healthy environment or beneficial to small family farms.

When my soy supplier discontinued making my wax, I knew it was time to dive in and make a change! I already know the benefits of both beeswax and tallow (more on this in my next newsletter), and have devised the perfect combination. It holds scent well and burns beautifully.

Beeswax candles burn longer than candles made with other substances and they produce no soot, when burned properly. Aside from this, supporting healthy bee populations helps us all. These amazing insects pollinate over 80% of all flowering plants including 70 of the top 100 human food crops. One in three bites of food that we eat is derived from plants pollinated by bees.

I am blending my original scent blends with this amazing, fresh, rich smelling beeswax and tallow that I render from grass fed cows on small family farms. I add a touch of organic virgin coconut oil to make the wax smooth and creamy and it is ready to go!
