Beginnings.

This shop has humble, high school, Hot-Topic-pants-filled beginnings. Julie and Sarah were once on a bowling team. Julie and Sarah were terrible bowlers. Once their class got left at the bowling alley by the bus driver and they were late to their next classes. One day, after a terrible bowling game, Sarah asked Julie if she wanted to go see The Lion King. Julie and Sarah were subsequently stranded at the movie theatre, redialing their one friend who could drive from the payphone over and over again. Later, Julie and Sarah took a few art classes together but accidentally swapped the times and ended up painting with a bunch of 8 year olds. Julie and Sarah made a habit of eating sugar and driving around aimlessly to get lost and collect street names. Shoe Factory Road is still a personal favorite of Julie's. Lots of time was spent rummaging around the button bowl at Hot Topic and eating Taco Bell in Arby's.

Somewhere in there, it was decided that they would create a website called "buyjulieandsarahsart.com." Sarah ran away from Chicago to the desert after high school. Something about tacos. Julie stayed closer to the motherland, and lived amongst the corn, even though people eating corn on the cob made her exceedingly uncomfortable.

Several years after college, Julie and Sarah decided to collaborate and do something both terrible and wonderful.

Julie and Sarah decided to part ways as business partners at the beginning of 2016 due to life changes. It was a wild ride, guys. Dry those eyes-- the illustrations aren't going anywhere. My Only Regret(besides dying)'s adventure has come to an end, but Long Dog Dandy is just beginning. Stay tuned for what Julie has in store.

Shop members

  • Julie

Owner, Maker, Designer, Illustrator, Lobster Wrangler

Julie is a dog person with 3 cats and no dogs. She is the Chicago half, and has a BFA in Killustration. She lived in Arizona while they were starting this thing, and nearly melted. She gets sunburned through car windows. It's sort of pathetic.

  • Sarah

    Co-Founder

Sarah has an affinity for cephalopods and playing Flight of the Bumblebee through straws. She has a BFA in Sculpting Blobs, and keeps claiming she is getting out of Arizona someday. Once she broke her foot walking down the stairs.

  • Stanley

    Booth Borzoi, Noodling Expert

Stanley lures unsuspecting customers into visiting the booth at shows. He is the reason Julie's joke about not having a dog is dated.

Production partners

  • enamel pin manufacturer

    Chicago, IL
