If I could give more than 5 stars I would!!!! I messaged this etsy seller after lunch on the 27th!! I waited last min for 6 gifts that I needed by the 1st!! I also needed a custom order on top of it being last min..... She went above and beyond!!! She answered all of my questions, packaged each item individually in the shipping box, and I received my completed order this morning on the 30th!!! These bags I ordered are absolutely perfect!!! Amazing quality and workmanship! She will be my go to on etsy and I highly recommend her to everyone!!!!

About

Indie Inspiration

I graduated from college in 2003 with a Bachelor's in Fine Art. When my teachers would ask me what I wanted to do after college, I would say, I'm going to be an artist and work at [insert well-known corporate coffee shop here]. Very ambitious, eh?

My main focus in school was photography and in my last year I really got into mixed media. I loved combining my photos into collage pieces and art books. After graduation, I started working at that well-known coffee shop so I would have health insurance and my art just fell to the wayside. I was busy working so I could eventually move out on my own and I just didn't have the time for my art. Plus, what would I do with that art I was making? It was really difficult for me to get motivated to create something when it would probably just sit in my house for who knows how long. I did a couple of gallery shows the years after I graduated. It was exciting to see my work hanging on a wall that wasn't my own, but I was starting to understand that dreaded term "starving artist."

Around this time, the now well-known Renegade Craft Fair was starting up in Chicago. I checked it out and was so inspired by everything! I was always sort of a purse/pouch/wallet addict, so I was really drawn to the crafters that made bags. After the show, I decided I wanted to learn how to sew. I bought a sewing machine and then went fabric shopping. I didn't even know where to begin. I had been a Craftster member for a while, so I decided to start there. I used different tutorials so I could learn the basics and the rest is history! Craftster is also where I first learned about Etsy. I became a member so I could buy things and secretly hoped I could one day be a seller too.

The years went by. I continued my job at the coffee shop, sewing myself bags on my days off. I was starting to get pretty decent at sewing and I thought, hey, maybe I can sell some of this stuff! I felt like I didn't have the free time to do it though, so it was still just a dream. Then I was laid off from my job. I was in a management position by that time and they started to downsize. I knew that was just the push I needed to start my Etsy shop for real! In 2009, three years after I signed up for Etsy, I had my first sale.

Right now, I am married to a guy that fully supports my shop dreams and is always pushing me to get stuff done! We moved to a house in the Chicago burbs in 2011 after we realized condo living in the city was a terrible idea with our rambunctious Boston Terrier, Panda. Then I decided we needed two pups, so we adopted Bean in 2012. I'm lucky to have a studio space in our home where I can do all of my sewing while my husband is just in the next room playing video games and the dogs get to decide which room they want to hang out in.

When I'm not making coffee or sewing, I'm cooking or baking up yummy vegan treats. I've been vegan since 2004, so everything I create is cruelty-free. I also still love taking photos, mostly of my dogs these days, but also of different projects I'm working on or other things I'm loving at the moment. I love music and constantly have Spotify playing while I work. Send me your suggestions, I'm always looking for new music! I don't watch a ton of television, but there are certain tv shows my husband and I like to watch together. My current favorite is The Walking Dead!

If you made it this far in my story, THANK YOU! I hope you find something you love in my shop and know that a lot of love and thanks goes into everything I make. I still get goosebumps every time I make a sale. It's a remarkable thing to know that someone wants to own something I made with my own two hands (and sewing machine!).

Beth

Hi, I'm Beth! I live in a suburb of Chicago with my husband, Wes and our two Boston Terriers, Panda & Bean! I'm a barista by day, but I like to spend the rest of my free time creating at my sewing machine or making yummy vegan treats in the kitchen.
