Hello, l'm Hilary! l have loved creating beautiful things for as long as l can remember! When I was a very small girl, l made clothes for my dolls on a little toy sewing machine. I learnt to knit when l was about six years old....
In my teens, at Art College, I made & wore my own unique creations.. (my mother sometimes wouldn't walk down the street with me,... she said l looked too strange!) - but l liked being ''different",.....being ME.
The nearest l ever had to my own shop was having a stall at the "Hippy market" in Ibiza , in the 1970's.
They were fun times! That was all so long ago now.
An English woman , living on a peninsula on the wild west coast of Ireland! ... and my life has taken many twists and turns to arrive at where l am now.
''Bethshan'' means -''House of Serenity" in Hebrew. lt's a very special place, and l am where l should be at this stage of my journey....
God has blessed me with true peace of mind in my 'latter' years, ..... now I'm enjoying browsing on Etsy and other sites, and seeing things labelled 'vintage' & 'retro' that l wore many years ago! ... It's quite nostalgic for me.
But I still have a wealth of creativity in me, and hopefully I'll be crafting as long as I live!
I am still learning new things every day,....and getting online opened up a whole new world to me! Now l can learn new crafts on YouTube tutorials, (I've learnt to needle felt , knit a completely different way, ( whoever said 'You can't teach an old dog new tricks' ? ) and many other new skills.
I LOVE being an Etsy seller! and l'd like to thank everyone who has supported me in this new venture!
I love browsing on Knitting Paradise, the forum dedicated to knitting and crochet,(and many other interesting things). They are a lovely family of creative people, who help & encourage one another.

I have been living in stunningly beautiful Connemara, on the west coast of Ireland for 12 years now, ...enjoying retirement, but still always busy! My inspiration comes from the beauty and diversity of God's creation that I see all aroud me. I hope my creations reflect a little bit of my God's awesome glory!

Additional policies and FAQs
The beautiful green beetle wings l use come from Thailand, where it is the custom to eat insects such as these beetles. The wings are a by-product of the food industry there, and the butterfly wings come from a sustainable source in England. From a man who has a Conservation butterfly farm, and collects these wings from butterflies that have died naturally. NONE ARE KILLED BEFORE THEIR TIME IS UP! Hope this helps anyone wondering ? Hilary
