Hello and welcome to Better Woodwork!

All our products are made in-house and are handmade using recycled wood and timber. Our items can come unpainted or in the colour options available and the option to personalise.

If you have any bespoke projects you would like to discuss, please get in touch. We love working on unique ideas!

Better Woodwork is a social enterprise, and our mission is to support those with mental health needs, learning difficulties and disabilities on their journey to employment. Better Woodwork gives people a safe place to learn new skills and receive training and provides a friendly and positive social environment.

Better Woodwork is a part of Better Pathways, a mental health charity based in Digbeth, Birmingham. Better Pathways provide employment support, and a range of education, training and volunteering opportunities across Birmingham and Solihull to people with complex mental health needs, personal barriers, disabilities and learning difficulties. Better Pathways deliver a bespoke employment support programme through their three social enterprises, one of which is Better Woodwork!

As I hadn’t received my item and had to contact them a few times waiting long periods of time for a reply. I have no choice but to give them a low score. When they finally contacted me,they didn’t have the quantity I ordered. So I had to obtain a full refund. At least they honoured that commitment so that’s the reason for the 3 stars. Not good service.

We use woodcraft to support young people and adults in maintaining good mental health and well-being.

Better Woodwork is a social enterprise managed by Better Pathways, a charity established in 1963 that helps people to manage their mental health and provides opportunities into employment.

Better Woodwork has partnered with Pathcarvers, a social enterprise led by JoJo Wood, that uses craft to help with people's mental health, their physical health and for social change.

Not being in work can be a major burden for people with mental health needs and learning disabilities. Lack of opportunities deprives these individuals of developing skills and contributes to the stigma surrounding mental health.

Therefore, the activities and projects at Better Woodwork are uniquely developed to contribute to the positive well-being of our participants, whilst also contributing to their vocational goals and increased independence.
