Announcement   March 23rd, 2018 - A Very Happy Spring to everyone of our dear friends!

If your weather is anything like ours as I type this, it's kind of hard to tell that it's actually Spring. . . but we hope to add some colorful Faerie magic to the season! We've been working on some more new designs and hope to have a lot to show in the coming weeks!

As always, thank you for believing!

Nicolas and Sofie (and his furriness, Little Lord Bhu!)

About the creation of Bewilder and Pine

Stories remembered from, and created throughout, childhood. . . worlds fashioned from unlimited imagination . . . those so-called "imaginary" friends. . . the myths and legends of ancient world history . . . and our desire for solitude, simplicity and the search for creative sanctuary envy day. . .

These are the ideals, large and small, that have inspired us to bring this shop filled with our miniature creations to life here.

The myriad of ever-evolving items you may find in Bewilder and Pine are all somehow directly tied to the unforgettable and unequalled days of our own childhoods. The magic and mystery that we never wish to lose as well as that we have reclaimed over the years of growth and re-invention. These are the beliefs and possibilities that defy age and agenda. . . that are available, even now, to children of all ages.

It is our hope that you will find a little something reminiscent of your own childhood within these pieces as well. Something that you carry with you still. . . something that has never lost it's magic or luster. Something that, in spite of the ever-maddening world around us, never will.

And we hope that you will allow the inspiration of it all to sink deeply within and take you back to those times and places as well. We are so happy you've stopped by, if only for a peek, and we hope what you see stays with you for some time to come.

Thank you for looking, . . but more for believing!

Once again Nicolas and Sofie have outdone themselves! This piece is magnificent! All the thought, time, creativity that went into to making this precious little farmhouse is astounding. The packaging alone is award winning...... everything always arrives in perfect condition and fast! Thank you once again Nicolas and Sofie.... I know there are probably many talented people that sell their creations on Etsy.... but none are better than you all. You all are so talented and I am very happy to have found you and your magical, sparkly world!

Thank you so much as you two know I adore your work. I have asked my husband to make me special shelves for all my fairy cottages and houses which he has. They look fantastic. Keep making new ones please.

About

Bewilder and Pine; the Dream Collective

Backward, turn backward, O Time, in your flight,
Make me a child again just for tonight!
(Elizabeth Akers Allen)

What if, as adults, we allowed ourselves to not only revisit those vivid landscapes of our childhood but also allowed ourselves to slip into that world once again?

What if we dared to play the very same games we did then. . . or create new ones that were similar in spirit or form?
What if we sang the same songs. . . or created new ones?
What if we followed the same dreams?
What if we could rediscover the world of endless possibilities?
What if we reveled in the same myths, stories and discoveries?

What if we believed that there was never going to be a truer "us" than who we were in those early days?

What if we believed that we knew more about the universe and how it actually worked back then than we ever will as so called "adults" today?

What if we believed in it enough to think that others all over the world could, and would, find their way here to share in the creation of it with us as we go?

What if we just forged ahead and dove in whether anyone came along to join in with us or not. . .

This is how the place known as The Bewildering Pine was created.

This shoppe? It's a conspiring of four hands and four paws that fell into a dream manifesto that says:

Childhood is the focal point of everything we create
You should not just remember those days gone by, but willfully indulge anew
You should set aside the practical things we were taught and reclaim the precious things we were untaught.

It asks you to dream
To laugh
To play
To love
To believe
Whether it's for the first time or
All over again

<>oOo<> About Bewilder and Pine's origins <>oOo<>

Bewilder and Pine is named after the realm of the Bewildering Pine which is the reflection of all the possibilities our creative worlds have held since childhood. It is not just a "place" in the mind, but a realm under construction. Maps, stories, histories, characters, towns and villages, creatures of myth and legend.

We are expanding this realm as we, ourselves, learn about it. We will continue to share what we discover and create what makes out hearts sing. It has been 6 years in the making to this point and, as caretakers of this realm 24 hours a day, we are overjoyed that you have come to visit and hope you will return. : ) This is what we "do" and we are eternally grateful for every step and misstep that brought us here.

Frequently asked questions

Sizing details

We create most stand alone houses/towers in either HO or N scales. These are model railroad scales. Here is a breakdown using dollhouse scale as reference.

Dollhouse scale is 1:12 meaning for every actual foot, the dollhouse piece measures 1" inch (or 1/12 the actual size) So a 6 ft tall human is 6” tall in dollhouse scale.

HO scale is 1:87 So, 87 feet in real life = one foot in HO scale. The six foot person in this HO scale is just 3/4” tall!

N scale is 1:148. So,148 feet in real life = one foot in N scale. The 6 foot tall person rendered in N scale is just under 1/2” tall! To give a grander idea, a city block could fit in one foot at N scale.

The key is that if you’re collecting these houses, they should be of similar scale!

Custom and personalized orders

We accept requests for custom orders all year around.

We usually cannot guarantee a completion date if the piece is something new to us.

We take great pride in completing thing in as timely a manner as possible but custom pieces require us to fit them in around our other commitments so we do not guarantee dates for their completion.

We DO offer a general idea of how long it may take but that is a ballpark at best. :)

Thank you!

Care instructions

Our houses and figurines will not fade in sunlight or degrade indoors under most all conditions.

The landscaping materials that we use are NOT made for exposure to the elements. We can often recreate something that like with a nod to it being an outdoor piece but please bear in mind that the exposure to rain, heat and cold WILL effect the pieces in some manner over time.

It is best to keep these little pieces of the realm of faerie in a stable environment and they can be wiped or dusted lightly as needed!

Gift wrapping and packaging

All of our pieces are packaged in a gift box with some combination of raffia ribbon, tissue, pine cones, fairy tag and more.

All of our fairy houses/pieces come with a Fairy Invocation and an inspirational message from the Fairies themselves.

Almost all of our pieces come with a handmade fold-out booklet that tells the story of the particular piece you have purchased.

Taoist stones and our Jizos come with their own special inserts.

We do not currently offer gift wrapping but we DO offer gift messages to be included with any purchase. Just let un know in the message to seller what the gift note should say.

Thank you!
