Beyond Her designs and produces modern home decor and fashion accessories in a sweet little town in Texas. Her world is on view at beyondher.com!
Here's to Art for Living! It starts with art, which I produce in pen and ink. My favorite subjects are plants, animals, insects, flowers - all things natural. I screenprint with my husband - I'm the Art, he's the Craft. Together we create the Beyond Her clean and contemporary collection of housewares, stationery and apparel using natural, organic and heritage fabrics and recycled papers.
All screen printing is done by hand, using eco-friendly processes, and assembled piece by piece in the USA. It's a true cottage industry.

About beyondher
-
It starts with art. I draw my mostly natural images using pen and ink, mostly from photographs.
-
We use the images to create our own collection of silk screens. We mix the water-based inks in-house and print by hand.
-
Every product is carefully designed to be unique. We dye the pieces, cut the shawls, sew and package in our studio
-
We search the world over for heirloom and natural fabrics, high quality blanks, and add our own distinctive style.
-
Our waxed fabric bags are wonderful examples of how we work. They reflect our design sense and craftsmanship.
"Life is too short for ugly dishtowels." --Her
Beyond Her grew out of a love of nature, a love of art, and a love of everyday objects that are both beautiful and practical.
The first products were stationery items that were printed elsewhere. But after one short course in screenprinting, the Beyond Her universe began to fill with natural and heritage textiles, which we dye and sew and imprint with original designs.
Beyond Her is all about green living, which is why we create things that replace cosummable items -- and why we use only ecofriendly products and processes in our work. You'll be surprised at how soft and lovely our fabrics are, even after they've been printed!
Our products are meant to replace all the drab and fussy objects in your life with items that you truly love -- and things that last. That's why we're fresh & old fashioned at the same time. You'll find dish towels in great modern colors and scarves that are washable, napkins that don't need ironing in our collection.
Some people say, "Your towels are too pretty to use," but we beg to differ. We create objects that are, yes, nice to look at, but they are meant to be used every day. Having beautiful, durable things in your kitchen and closet adds true pleasure to life.
If you believe life IS too short for ugly dishtowels, scratchy scarves and polyester totes, Beyond Her is for you. Here's to Art for Living!

The Story of Beyond Her
Once upon a time there was a girl who stayed slightly confused, and slightly amused, by the way things work.
“It’s beyond me,” she would sigh. Then she would go back to her painting.
She thought she would understand more as she got older, but she actually understood less. At the age where she expected to be truly wise, it seemed like everything was beyond her understanding.
So she went back to her paints, where she found everyday objects that were beautiful. And meaningful. In a very simple way.
Things started to click. She painted more and analyzed less. It’s not that things got any clearer. She simply had a view above and beyond.

Professional Seamstress

My sewing capabilities are limited, so when I need anything complex assembled, I use the services of a small local maker who recently moved to a 100 yr old farmhouse in Texas after living in Houston for 20 years. I count on her eye and steady hand.
