I like the colors and design of these pair of earrings. They are light-weight and can be matched with many different kinds of colors and outfits. I thank Brittany for making and selling these. Keep on doing what your doing Brittany! Take care, Marisa M.

About

Metamorphosis, scraps turn into jewelry...

I've always had a love of color, shape, design, texture and simplicity. Before I started creating jewelry that was more architectural in style, I didn't wear much jewelry because most of the traditional stuff out there on the market didn't appeal to me.

During my four years in graduate architecture school, I started to compile box after box of various material scraps. After perhaps the 300th piece of those clear and orange laser cut plexiglass pieces, I started to think what else I could do with the materials after all the school models were done.

Thus one Christmas vacation the first of the earrings were born. And in true architecture student fashion, one iteration was not enough, twenty were created the first time. Then Christmas ornaments of the same materials.

Now fast forward three years later, and I'm still finding more and more construction materials scraps (the main thick copper wire was from electrical cables). The idea of recycling is carried further with each iteration.

"Architecture is waste in transit" said Jeremy Till, author of Architecture Depends. I take that another step further and make beauty out of 'waste'. What better way to say I care about the earth than redefining what it means to throw something away?
