The stories these two can tell!

Sometimes, I have to be my own model; a task I don't feel so happy about.

My favorite sale to date! I love this incolay box and it was part of my personal collection!

My son now 4, is the inspiration behind this magical journey to etsy and quite the storyteller, too!

The hand-carved stamps I made for my jewelry cards. The yucca plant was taken from the ones at my grandma's homeplace
I'm inspired by stories.
I attended garage sales, estate sales, and auctions as a child, all of which were my favorite thing on Saturday mornings, just after indulging in my daddy's homemade waffles or pancakes. The old barn auctions were the best! At home, an old chicken house separated my home from my grandparents, and it housed even older nails and screws, belt sanders and jigsaws. Believe it or not, that was my playhouse! As I grew older, my dad taught me how to use those machines and let me create my own artworks out of wood, without even a grimace. He empowered me to be self-reliant.
I have always enjoyed listening to the stories of my past, past being ancestral. My mind envisioned such tales and laughter always accompanied. Rustic tools, metal boxes and old, buried trash piles later informed my art work and photographic pieces. The richness of the textures, the smells and the wonder I find inspiring.
My son was born in 2008, and I decided it was time to make a change. I gave up my job as a Photo Lab manager at the school I had attended to give my new role as mommy a try. Obviously I fell in love, but that urge to create was calling from my inner soul! I stumbled upon etsy while watching Martha Stewart one morning (daytime tv was a new venture for me and constant companion during the frequent feedings). It was baby week and she had the etsy shop owner of 1boy1girl demo'ing how they make their shirts. I was hooked and thought I'd give etsy a try. But what to try?
I began selling my photographs, the first pair to a buyer in France! I also had some infant bodysuits that I had added appliques to, appliques of my drawings. Then I added the vintage. I loved it all! My infant stuff took off and I decided to open a sister shop (thebirdandelephant), and devote this to my photos, vintage wares and the oddball items I crafted, usually revamped from older pieces.
In the Fall of 2011, I began making the little flower earrings as a smalls item at my craft shows, and I'm still making them today!
Of course this shop has transformed over time. I came up with the name Primm Road, as that was the name of the road where I lived when my art world flourished, where my children were born, and where my life on etsy began. Of course I moved closer to home since then, but Primm Road is now an important era in my family's history.

SHIPPING FEES:
All shipping fees are estimates. In some cases, refunds will be given via PayPal. My shipping fees also include packaging and handling (bubble wrap, boxes) but any extra wrapping, cards, etc. is courtesy of Primm Road, and not reflected in your shipping cost.
COMBINED SHIPPING:
I do combine shipping on multiple items purchased and will refund any overages paid via PayPal. Due to the variety of items within my shop, I cannot always combine shipping, and so I no longer include a "shipped with another item" fee that is lesser than the actual cost (there are a few exceptions). For example, a photograph cannot be shipped with a set of heavy glasses, and therefore, you must pay the shipping for both items as they will be shipped separately. As stated, I always refund overages in shipping charges via PayPal, even for single items. My shipping fees are estimates.
GIFTS:
If this is a gift to be shipped to another person, please let me know by stating so in the comment line at checkout and I will be happy to include a note from you, and kindly leave out an invoice.
SHIPPING WITHIN THE US:
Small items weighing less than 13 ounces will be shipped USPS First Class Mail. It is very difficult to gauge actual shipping costs for larger items weighing over 13 ounces. I do estimate my shipping costs on the higher end and ship via Priority Mail (which is sometimes surprisingly cheaper than Parcel Post). I prefer that you receive your items in a timely manner, however, some items may be shipped via Parcel Post to fit within the shipping fee charged. If you are concerned about the arrival time of your package, please leave a note in the Message to Buyer section at checkout and I will provide you with a more accurate shipping fee and expected arrival time. If you require a fast shipping, ie overnight, etc., please leave a note in the Message to Buyer section at checkout. I will contact you with additional shipping fees and send an invoice via PayPal for the difference. A shipping confirmation comes with all orders. Items priced over $50 are insured for free. Some extremely fragile items are shipped Priority or UPS, and will be noted in the item description.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS:
Please contact me for pricing and I will be happy to ship anywhere on this planet. International orders are shipped First Class unless Priority is requested in which case I will add a shipping upgrade.
I cannot falsify customs forms by placing a smaller merchandise/sale amount, or marking as a gift, etc.
