About

BigBlackDogDesigns is Born!

My dream of owning a store started when I was a small child, sitting with my beloved Grandmother watching her embroider. I was hooked from that moment on. I learned everything from her, not only embroidery, but cross stitch, crewel embroidery and everything in-between.

When I first saw my first embroidery machine I was completely smitten! I still have that machine and even though I've gone on to purchase a Professional Embroidery Machine, I still love that very first machine. They are my friends and companions, as I spend more time with them, then I do my own family! Each one has been given a name and sometimes I talk to them as if they are children.

In 2008 when the economy hit the "brick wall" I was one of the first to be laid off. I was also facing surgery because of a injury I had as a child, which had never been corrected. I was loosing my ability to walk. I was completely heart-broken and not sure where to go, what to do and even if I could go on. Well, one day in February of 2008, my son presented me with a brand new puppy, who he saved from the animal pound. I'm not sure now, if we saved him or he saved us! He inspired me to have surgery, and he then inspired me to learn how to walk, and dance and do all kinds of activities that I hadn't done since being a child.

When I got the idea to start a embroidery business, I knew that the name of the business had to be BigBlackDogDesigns. Teddy was my companion, my soul mate, my commander in chief.

Teddy and I spend every day in the BigBlackDogDesign studio together! We love creating, sewing and doing applique embroidery! I hope you will enjoy our little store and come back often to shop with BigBlackDogDesigns!

Frequently Asked Questions:

1.How is my order processed and when?
Regular Production - First your order is put into the processing stage where it is designed and then gets ready for embroidery, embroidered and then it is shipped. Many appliques ship at different times, so make sure to check under each product photo for the shipping & policy tab. Your scheduled shipment date is the guaranteed date at which your order is "guaranteed" to ship by. If you have a shipment or delivery date you need to receive by within that period (before the scheduled shipment date) you would need to purchase a RUSH My Order Service. The Rush My Order Service listing is at the top of each page when using a PC. The processing speed does not include the shipping time. Please allow enough time for your order to be produced and shipping.

**Production to shipment for some of our appliques , so please read each listing description/and or shipping information under each photo. Some fast ship products have shipping info in the title.

Depending on the shipping speed you choose at checkout the order is shipped 1st class (2-5 business days for delivery) The 1st class packages are sent with USPS as the delivery carriers. The schedules for delivery are theirs.

DO NOT CHOOSE A Shipping Upgrade to have the order rushed - shipping upgrades are for shipping only, which means that it applies to the speed of shipping not to your order processing in a faster way.

USPS: Days of Pick up are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Any or all of those days may be used as pick up days for the Postal Service. Not every day is used as a pick up day for the Postal Service.

ALL INFORMATION TO COMPLETE ALL ORDERS MUST BE ON THE ORDER ITSELF WHEN IT IS PLACED. There is a message or note field in the checkout screen when all information is to be placed. IF THE INFORMATION IS MISSING - BBDD WILL NOT GO THROUGH CONVERSATIONS TO FIND THE INFORMATION. IF YOU SEND A MESSAGE AFTER PURCHASE WITH NAMES FOR THE ORDER, A REFUND OR CANCELLATION OF THE ORDER WILL NO LONGER BE ELIGIBLE. IT IS THE CUSTOMER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO PUT ANY AND ALL INFORMATION ON THE ORDER WHEN IT IS PLACED.


2.What if I have a deadline or need a rush processing and shipment: ?
If you have a RUSH, you MUST purchase a RUSH MY ORDER otherwise your order will be processed and shipped as scheduled. Rush Orders are non-refundable , no exceptions.

3.Where do I contact customer service at BBDD?
Customer service is very important at BigBlackDogDesigns. If you have a question or concern, please contact us through Etsy Conversation or our NEW Customer Service Email - bigblackdogdesigns [!at] live.com and we will get back to you ASAP!

4.Where is my shipment date available to view?
Your processing/shipment date is always contained on your receipt, after purchase, but if you wish verification, please let me know. Please review my processing, shipping, policies and read the shop announcements for additional information. All customers are expected to read our policies for any information they may need in placing orders.

5. What does my receipt tell me?:
Your receipt is sent to your email address. It contains basic policies of the store and should be read to be an informed buyer.

6. What if my order contains missing information?

If you place a order that does not contain correct information or all information regarding numbers, names, custom colors (if that is checked or chosen as a option at checkout), your order may be cancelled. BigBlackDogDesigns DOES NOT go back through conversations to find numbers desired, names, custom colors. All information must be placed in the Message Field when checking out. The Message field is right below the credit card information in the checkout screen.

Please do not order and request Glitter or Sequin fabrics unless the fee for those fabrics is paid with your order. BigBlackDogDesigns will not use Glitter or Metallic thread unless it is in a applique shown with that thread. Special threads are a extra fee, please see the Special listing section for those listings to add to your order.

7. How are the Appliques measured?

All measurements given are measured digitally and cannot be measured with measuring tapes, rulers, etc. Some measurements are approximate only because measurements depend on letters or numbers chosen.

Shipping
Customer pays shipping and handling on all orders. Shipping and Handling costs are based on :USPS shipping rates, packaging costs, printer ink, printer paper and any other material for packaging and the cost of a person to package and ship the order.

Production varies from one applique to another, so please review the production information to see the processing time under each product photo and in the checkout screen.. Your order will NOT be cancelled due to turn around/production times. NO exceptions. **Production to shipment for our appliques varies, so please read each listing description/and or shipping information under each photo. Some fast ship products have shipping info in the title.

Your scheduled shipment date is the guaranteed date at which your order is "guaranteed" to ship by. If you have a shipment or delivery date you need to receive by within that period (before the scheduled shipment date) you would need to purchase a RUSH My Order Service.

Everything is handmade as it is ordered regardless of quantity shown.

** If you have a deadline to meet and need our RUSH order service, please choose our RUSH ORDER Listing at the top of the page. Rush Order fees are non-refundable. Please read the details of the RUSH order process in the description. Then at checkout choose your shipping speed, 1st class is the default shipping speed at 2-5 business days; Priority 1-3 business days and Express which is overnight delivery by USPS. Please allow the correct time for your order to arrive.

Orders that are shipped on Friday or weekend days will be shipped on the next available business day.

USPS pick up days are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, however that doesn't mean a pick up with USPS will occur each day. No pick ups on Saturday or Sunday. Saturday and Sunday are not business days and they are not included in shipping, production or other calculations.


By purchasing you are agreeing that you have read these policies, understand them and agree to the said policies of BigBlackDogDesigns.

**Large orders can take up to 5 weeks or longer to complete. Additional shipments or partial shipments can be made. Please contact me before purchasing. If you wish two shipments additional shipment payments must be made or the partial shipment will not be accommodated.

Refunds and Exchanges
If you wish to return your order and wish a refund, you must contact BigBlackDogDesigns within 7 days after the delivery of your order. All return shipping costs are paid by the buyer and not refundable. When your order is returned, your purchase payment will be refunded minus the shipping. Orders may only be returned on products without fabric or design changes and there are no refunds for products returned that are personalized with names, initials or monograms.

January 1, 2016 Policy Update: Cancellations are accepted for 3 business days after the order has been placed. After the 3 business days has passed, the customer can exchange the applique for something else or receive store credit. Customers are encouraged to read all policies before purchasing.


All Rush Order Fees are non-refundable. If a Rush Order is placed, and the order cancelled, the rush order fee or fees are non-refundable. Rush orders go into production immediately upon order placement, therefore no refund. If an RUSH order is incorrectly embroidered or damaged etc. the order will be refunded or adjusted as per customer request, however the rush order fee will not be refunded. All Rush Order fees are not refunded for any reason.

No refunds on orders with discounted pricing, wholesale pricing, or free shipping.

If notification of a delay in shipment has been made and the buyer does not contact BBDD within 3 days of that rescheduled notification, the order will not be refunded. If notification of some mistakes or problems with your order has been sent and the customer does not respond after 3 business days, the order will be completed but it will not be refunded or cancelled. No exceptions. Please see Additional Information section for additions to this policy.

There is no return policy on custom orders, special and sale items or business account orders, unless applique is damaged. We pay all shipping costs on damaged applique returns only.. To claim a order is damaged, a picture must be submitted within 24 hours of receipt of the order. If the customer tampers with the order in any way - the order will be not refunded or replaced. On all other returns, the shipping costs are the customer's responsibility

If damage occurs, please accept our apologies for the inconvenience. BBDD will not accept damage claims after delivered merchandise has been in customers hands for more than 24 hours. Contact BBDD for damage claims. Proof of the defect must be photographed and if it is determined that the damage has been caused by BBDD, BBDD will replace or refund the order.

BigBlackDogDesigns does not pay for damages made by the US Postal Service or any other postal service delivery system. If insurance is not paid, it is the buyer's responsibility. We encourage all buyers purchase insurance for 1st class shipping speed.
BigBlackDogDesigns is not responsible and will not be responsible financially for the United States Postal Service's delivery or any other postal service company, or their handling of packages. BigBlackDogDesigns is not responsible for scanning of packages with regards to Delivery Confirmation. Please check your shipping address to verify it is correct. If the shipping address is incorrect and the address is shipped and delivered to the incorrect shipping address, BigBlackDogDesigns is not responsible. Your order will not be refunded if the package cannot be found. When you purchase or place an order you are acknowledging that you have read the policies of BigBlackDogDesigns and have agreed to said policies.

Insurance is always recommended on 1st class shipments or other shipments except Priority or Express which include insurance. Customer is responsible to contact USPS after the orders are placed and the order is in Federal USPS hands. BigBlackDogDesigns is not financially responsible if the package is lost by USPS or any other postal service that was used to ship the order or package.


Again no refunds or returns on orders that have been customized with names or specialized colors or fabric changes. No returns for custom colors, custom fabrics etc.

Orders are shipped to the address that the CUSTOMER inserts into the form when checking out. If you DO NOT enter the correct address you - the customer is responsible for the package loss and expense of shipping or any other costs involved with the order.

Customer is responsible to put all information into the Message field when checking out. If information is missing and the order is done incorrectly there will be no replacement or refund. If it is BBDD's fault we will replace the error asap.

All orders are shipped via the US Postal Service.

Instruction sheet on how to iron on the appliques is included with purchase. Washing instructions are also included. All appliques can be ironed onto any surface but Vinyl. For an additional hold, BBDD recommends stitching the applique after it has been ironed on and cooled off.

WARNING: Iron On process is for adults only. Please do not allow children to apply appliques or to play with the packaging materials. 8-10 seconds with a dry iron is all it takes to make your embellished garment.

Any order placed that does not include names, initials or monograms with the order will not have a monogram or initial given. Pictures are shown with initials, names or monograms, but if the customer does not put their own initial, name or monogram in the MESSAGE FIELD OR MESSAGE BOX in the checkout screen, the name, initial or monogram will not be included. BBDD will not contact the customer and ask for the name, initial or monogram and BBDD will not look through conversations to find that information.

Any applique that includes bows, rhinestones, or other embellishments should not be washed in a washing machine. These are delicate items and should be hand washed or dry cleaned for best results.

All photos or pictures in the Etsy store or on the Facebook Fan page are property of BBDD only. Any shop or boutique can the pictures or photos of the appliques only to sell their products providing they use BBDD appliques.

Appliques can not be sold individually but can be used on garments for re-sale and/or garments made for personal use.
