Clever custom clothing
My passion for making clothes started late in life; I began a study in fashion and design when I was already eighteen. Untill then I hadn’t even touched a sewingmachine. After finishing my degree a couple of years back, my life took a different turn, but now – due to Etsy – my love for making inspiring handmade clothes for special people has flourished once again.
In the daytime (and a lot of nighttimes as well ...) I work as a theatre programmer for the local theatre in my hometown Nijmegen. So I spend a lot of time sitting on my but, watching performances and for me it's a perfect godsend combining this daytime job with being creative myself. Most of the time that's left I dedicate to making clothes for Bilot in my small, but cosy homestudio.
I love creating items that might seem casual at first sight, but stand out due to a small nimble touch. My style is minimalistic and clever; I combine basic colors with neon accents and spice up simple patterns with filled up shoulders, cuffs and kneepads. The pieces stand out by their unique details in combination with comfort and sound finishing touch.
I like to think of bilot as a modest countermovement in fashion today. Instead of fast-fahion-consumption I offer a different take on clothing. Why not opt for the sustainable way of doing things? Buy less and more handmade. So you can be sure your darling dress has been made under good conditions, with passion and care.

This is me; the one-man-band. I do everything from stockkeeping, designing, patterncutting, giftwrapping, modeling to sewing the whole thing together. Everything you buy at bilot has gone trough my hands, defenitely more than once!
Meet Kai: he takes photo's and since he's also very good with numbers he helps me out with administration and paper work. Let's not forget he's my favourite shoulder to cry on when things go terribly wrong. Yes they do...a lot.

Orders are shipped to your address stated on your Etsy account. Kindly let me know if you would like your order to be sent to a different address. I am not responsible for items not received due to incorrect address. There is no refund for items sent to a wrong address.
My products are shipped in a plastic bag via TNT Post and always as "Priority" mails . Orders of larger quantity are sent in a big box.
Smaller items are sent unregistered, but still via Priority Mail. It is small and flat, so it will be delivered directly into your mailbox. No signature is required upon delivery.
Insurance costs a little extra (not more than 20 dollars extra). Please contact me for information if you would like to have your item shipped with insurance.
It takes between 4 and 5 working days for the shipping to reach customers in Europe and 7 and 14 working days to customers outside Europe. After placing an order, you will be informed about the expected delivery date for your specific location.
There is no difference in the shipping time between an item shipped as a registered mail and one with an unregistered mail.
Please note that there is a possible delay due to Customs random check. A delay of 1-2 weeks is common. And this is also the case during Christmas and New Year time.
Be aware that there might be addittional import duties charged when you order from abroad. Import duties are to be paid by customers. Please make sure you are informed about import regulations in your country to prevent unpleasant surprises.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you would like to exchange the product you have bought with another item in my shop please send it back. After I have checked that the item has not been used and is in a good condition I will send the new item to you and pay for the shipping cost.
Customers are responsible for the shipping fee to send the order back to me either for refund or exchange.
Products that have been customized in any way are final sales.
There are no refunds for items purchased on sale.

All items are custom made in the standard sizes and colors available.
When these standard options don't work for you, please feel free to convo me for other possibilities. Usually there are a lot more options in size, fabric and color than the ones you can choose from in the shop.
You can also contact me for a more open question such as: 'My friend is getting married soon and I'm looking for a one of a kind dress to wear'. I'll make you suggestions for models and fabrics and together we'll decide on a design and matching fabric. In the end I'll make you a total price and inform you about the processing time. These type of custom orders can usually be ready within two weeks.
