I love this green Blenko water decanter. The color is beautiful. It was well packed and arrived in excellent condition. My nephew and his wife loved the Blenko water decanter.

About

Colorful, contemporary glass for modern living

Drawing, painting, ceramics and photography as well as creative writing and the art of bonsai have all held my artistic interest throughout my life, though creating with glass has been my focus for the last fifteen years.

A California native, I moved my studio “Biolum Glass”, east to Chicago in 2008. My current biolumglass line includes fused glass jewelry, contemporary, abstract stained glass panels, glass mosaics and lighting.

My first inspiration for fused glass jewelry and stained glass panels hatched from imaginings of the deep sea and outer space. For this reason I chose "biolum" (from the word bioluminescent) as my studio name, to encompass both the beautiful and alien, space age and primordial. This vision continues to challenge me to create works that are futuristic artifacts of glass, colorful, never before seen beacons to light and enliven modern day life.

For me the word “biolum” has come to represent the techniques I have learned and developed, the specific processes, the designs I have interpreted, honed intuition, chance, and all the secrets I have discovered about glass that make my vision and artwork glow.

"Biolum" is the first part of the word bioluminescent, which refers to plants and animals that can produce light from within their bodies. Many creatures living in the abyss of the deep ocean glow with a light that is soft and electric blue or red, sparkling and winking like a distant galaxy. My designs for stained glass panels and fused glass jewelry hatched from these images and imaginings of the deep sea and outer space. For this reason I chose biolum as my studio name, to encompass both the beautiful and alien, space age and primordial. This vision continues to challenge me to create works that are futuristic artifacts of glass, colorful beacons to light and enliven modern day life.
