Spinning a ribbon or thread?

I've been crafting since I could tie my shoes. Even in college, where I majored in journalism, I picked up an art minor because I didn't want to "give up" on art. But I never believed I'd make a living doing everything I loved.

After chasing ambulances and keeping politicians in line as a reporter, I moved into a quieter role after our daughters were born. Fiber arts became my passion. I began Birdsong™ as a hair accessories business so my daughter and her friends didn't have to suffer through kindergarten with plain ol' hair when they were already wearing plain ol' uniforms.

After a few years I decided to combine my love of writing with my love of ribbons, and wrote a line of 18 tutorials and patterns to make hair bows, ribbon flowers, and fabric flowers. I'm writing my first book, "50 Ribbon Bows and Rosettes to Make," which will be published by St. Martin's Griffin Press (U.S.) and Search Press (U.K.) in late summer 2014.

In addition to offering tutorials for accessories, Birdsong™ expanded in 2013 to include sewing patterns for children's clothing with knit fabrics. They're my favorite to wear and my girls live in them - don't yours? Knits can be casual or cute, practical or pretty...and I really enjoy teaching others how to work with this forgiving fabric.

So, pull up a chair - learn how to sew your daughter a ruffle T-shirt, layer it over leggings, make her a cute tote for her Barbies, and top off her head with a fabulous bow. You can learn to do all of that, only from Birdsong™!

At Birdsong Bows and Patterns, I create high-quality tutorials and patterns to help accessories designers in their own work. The tutorials and patterns are sold in PDF format, which means they are sent to your e-mail account as downloadable files. They are not actual books that you receive in your postal mail, but you may print the files for your own personal use. You may also sell items you make from my tutorials, in limited quantities as a home-based business.

Join me on Facebook at and on my blog,

I aim for customer satisfaction, so please contact me so we can solve ANY issues before considering leaving neutral/negative feedback. I am VERY responsive and helpful! However, I will not know if you had a problem viewing your e-book unless you tell me. :) Thanks for understanding.
Refunds and Exchanges
There are no refunds on ebooks. This is because these are intellectual property items, and once you've opened the tutorial, there's really no way to "give it back." So please read the listing carefully and ask questions before purchase. I'm always honest about whether I believe an ebook will work for your particular needs.
Additional policies and FAQs
What happens if you download the e-books, and then your computer crashes a month or up to a year later? I will happily re-send you a link to your tutorials, for free, the first time this happens to you within 1 year after purchase. Please provide me with the approximate date of purchase AND the items you've lost. If it's the second time this happens (or the third), there is a 15% fee, based on the current price of the pattern/tutorial, before I will re-send it again. Therefore, if you've lost a $10 tutorial once, I'll re-send it for free. If you lose it a second time, it's $1.50 to have me re-send it. It's always a good idea to save your tutorials and patterns to a CD after you've downloaded them, in addition to adding them to your hard drive. :) I apologize, but there are no re-sends after 1 year from date of purchase.
