Finding beauty in the "imperfect"

Hi there! I'm Heather; wife, mother of three, home educator, letterer, laser woodworker and founder of Bits of Imperfection, aka Bits of I.

Why "Bits of Imperfection" you ask? Well, life is just flat-out imperfect. But on a professional level, I have always strived for 'perfection' when it comes to my work, and very quickly found that using natural materials such as wood does not allow for absolute 'perfection'. Natural "flaws" (ie: knots, rogue woodgrain, varying color tone) are abundant, but can actually be what make such items so unique and charming. In truth, there is not much character in uniformity, and that is what I love most about my work. Although the same process and materials may be used for any one specific design, we all put our individuality into what we do and not a single creation made using my file designs will be 100% exactly the same as another.
