About Me & Bitter Candy

I have always loved being creative in a multitude of mediums. Despite a Bachelor's from Parsons the New School for Design I spent many years afraid to put myself out into the world. But it has finally come time to share what I love doing! I just love making!!! <3

Bitter Candy's name: I remember being a kid and loving those sour bitter candies that you can still find in stores today. But it wasn't about just the candies- it was the friends I shared them with, the friends I would take 'the plunge' with, the friends that were always there even as the years went by.
Bitter Candy is what inspired me to open this shop and I'm hoping those fun and whimsical moments in my life find their way to you through its handmade items.

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)

I do not offer refunds for items in the store. All sales are final.
Paypal Payments Only, United States shipping only
Payment should be made within 3 days, if payment isn't made within that time I will send a message to ask if the order is still required, if there is no reply and no payment the order will be cancelled.
Shipping at this moment is just for those within the United States!

Items are sent via USPS First Class with Delivery Confirmation. Items will be shipped within 5 days of payment received.

if you're sending your purchase as a gift, leave me a note at checkout what you'd like me to include with the item (to:, from:, note). While I can leave a gift note within your package, I do not gift wrap your purchase. items are packed to reach their destination safely, so I'm sure your giftee will still enjoy getting something special from you even if it's not gift wrapped.

***Please note that I cannot be held responsible for lost items in transit... If items arrived damaged, send me a photo and I'll work on a replacement or refund.

Care instructions

First Check individual listings for possible item-specific care.

* For most items I recommend spot cleaning with cool soapy water, and let air dry.
For heavily soiled bags and pouches you may hand or machine wash (gentle cycle). Pat or roll in dry towel and let air dry. Press using a pressing cloth.

* Shipping may also leave items a bit deflated upon arrival, revive items with a nice press with warm iron over a pressing cloth. Be sure not to touch vinyl, faux leather, leather, and plastics as these materials could melt.

* I recommend using a fabric protection spray to give items more stain resistance and thus longer life. I use Scotchgard Fabric Protector Spray for this.

Gift wrapping and packaging

For gifts, items are not wrapped any differently and will include the normal receipt. I CAN leave a note for the recipient, just let me know in your order :)

I most often mail items in soft poly mailers.

If I send a box, be aware that I may use an upcycled box. With all the waste that can occur, if a box is in 'new' condition I may reuse it to ship your item. But don't worry, I hand check each to make sure it is strong and stable for re-use!

My item was lost or damaged in the mail, can I get a return?

I'm sorry, but once a finished item has left my hands I am no longer responsible. As such there are no refunds for items damaged or lost by the mail service.

This also includes wrong delivery due to a wrong address given at time of purchase.

Do you have pets or smoke?

Everything is made in a smoke-free, DOG-friendly home. My sewing room is open to my dogs, so be aware if you have a severe allergy.
