I am now a Mrs and took time off in July to get married ❤️. Its all about getting back to my workbench now before i head back to my other job of mental health nurse.

Please do follow me Black Cat Silver on Instagram or facebook for updates & work in progress. If you see anything you wish to purchase but it’s not listed here, please do message me. My designs are often one off’s and therefore may be in The Nest in Rugby Town Center, Warwickshire where I have been a trader for a number of years.

Thanks & look after yourselves and those around you.

About BlackCatSilverUK

Sales 16
On Etsy since 2016

Expressing my love of nature and the ocean.

Finding that something in life that gives you a sense of peace & achievement, where you can lose yourself for hours - that’s my workbench.

After a childhood of DIY with my granddad, my love of hammers began. Throughout life I have loved dabbling with crafts but it wasn't until I was able to take a break from my busy nursing career that I discovered silversmithing and Black Cat Silver was born. Why the name Black Cat Silver, well when your deciding on a name and you just happened to have called your black cat Silver because that was your favourite precious metal, it just couldn't have been a different name. Silver is unfortunately no longer with us and my new workbench buddy is our rescue Staffie Belle.

I now work part time as a mental health nurse and part time feeding my soul at my workbench. A true balance to life. Black Cat Silver explores my love of nature, from the roar of the ocean to the rustle of leaves in the woodland. Each piece is individually designed by me and handcrafted using traditional silversmithing techniques. So its teeny tiny saw blades, hammer techniques, soldering and lots of love in each piece of jewellery.

Each item bears my makers mark (two crescent moons with BCS - well I had to keep with nature even with my makers mark) and all items requiring it are also Hallmarked via Birmingham Assay Office.

I may not get quite the amount of time I would like at my workbench, but the time I do get is precious. I am slowly building my business and my customers both here on Etsy and within a local shop The Nest, Rugby, Warwickshire where I have been a trader for a number of years.

Thanks for visiting my shop, please do keep in touch via Instagram or Facebook.

Frequently asked questions
Gift wrapping and packaging

All of my orders are hand packaged & I have taken time to consider my packaging to reflect my love of nature. So your jewellery will be packaged with care and will be within hand stamped boxes that can store the jewellery or be reused or recycled by the recipient. All jewellery is wrapped in acid free tissue paper which is great for storing silver. Outside packaging will bear my personalised stickers asking you to reuse too.
Should you wish a short personalised message attached let me know.

Sizing details

Sizing for each item will be listed.

Necklaces will indicate size of pendant and length of chain. Please see picture in each listing showing approximate placement of each chain length.

Bangles and bracelets, size of diameter of bangle will be given, please look at the picture on the listing of how to measure your correct size prior to purchase.

Custom and personalised orders

If you wish for a custom size or have a request for a slight variation on one of my designs please message me to discuss.

Hallmarking

All items are either Sterling Silver (925) or Fine Silver (999). The number indicated relates to the purity of silver. 925 is the standard for sterling silver. Fine Silver whilst purer is a softer metal and therefore is only used in my earrings , some necklaces or embellishments to bangles. Items will clearly state if Sterling or Fine Silver.

All silver in the UK is legally required to be hallmarked if over 7.5grams in weight. My business and makers mark is registered with Birmingham Assay Office and all items of this weight are sent for Hallmarking. Other items not requiring hallmarking will still bear my makers mark.

Care instructions

If you are not always wearing your item of jewellery I would recommend you store it within the acid free tissue paper and for longer term storage in an air tight box. This will slow any process of tarnishing.

All silver will tarnish over time , but the process is often sped up due to contact with perfumes, salty air, skin creams, hair sprays etc. The amount of tarnishing varies considerable from person to person. Some women will also notice jewellery can take on a yellowing due to higher levels of hormones on the skin at times. All of this does not affect your jewellery and a wipe over with a impregnated silver polishing cloth will bring your piece back to full beauty.

If you can remove jewellery before showering and when swimming.
