This pendant is stunning. Gorgeous colours. Looks even more amazing in real life. I love the unique shape and the metallic paper that the photo is printed on give it a beautiful effect.

Such a pretty pendant. I bought this for my mother and she adores it. The metallic paper that the photo is printed on gives it a beautiful effect that you can only see in real life. Highly recommended.

About

About 60% of Western Australia's native plants are found nowhere else in the world...

With that in mind, I decided it was only fair to share their amazing beauty, colours, textures and shapes with those that may not get to experience them in person, as well as with my fellow Aussies.

I have been a photographer for 19 years, beginning at the age of 16. Between 1997 and 2007, I had concentrated primarily on portraiture, even studying it professionally at college. In 2007 was going through a bad period of creativity block and wasn't sure if I wanted to be a serious photographer any more. Discouraged, I took my camera with me whilst out bushwalking. Whilst exploring, I fell in love with Banksias. They are such detailed and intricate plants, with so many varieties that there is one in flower throughout the entire year. Over time I developed a real affinity with native plants, photographing them in a fine art style rather than as traditional nature shots.

I returned to college (TAFE) in 2010 to continue my photography studies, deciding to concentrate my major folio and video presentations on our native plants. I completed my diploma without assistance, despite suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome. It's something I'm very proud of! Whilst studying, I started my Blackcurrant Photography blog, and registered my business. Since 2010 I have sold my photographic prints and decor via Etsy.

My most popular items have been my 3D photo jewellery, inspired by face mounted acrylic blocks. I have been developing these wearable miniature artworks since early 2011. Each one contains my own photographs which are professionally lab printed. I then seal each image behind glass, then hand finish them with sandpaper and quality findings. Each jewellery piece takes a minimum of 2-3hrs to create.

In the past 2-3 years I have focused my brand more on homewares and accessories through a print to order service. Etsy has become my home for selling my handmade items, and my fine art prints. All fine art prints sold via my Etsy shop have been individually crafted, professionally printed by my favourite lab here in Perth, and ship from my own home, to your door.

Thank you for reading my story.

Frequently asked questions

Custom orders.

Custom orders are available for prints, presentation items and cards. I don't usually take custom orders for jewellery as I don't keep supplies in stock. If you would like a custom piece of jewellery, please be aware it may cost significantly more than my in stock pieces.

Due to the handmade nature, please be aware that jewellery items are not flawless, yet I have made every effort to carefully photograph all parts for you.

Jewellery care instructions.

Don't wear the jewellery if it's really hot or if you're going to be exercising as body oils can build up on the back. The back of the pendant is basically just laminated paper. It's moisture resistant but not moisture proof. Try to wear it with clothing it can sit on top of instead of on your bare skin. Don't wear it when showering or swimming.

Each piece of jewellery is made by glueing a photograph to glass, sanding the edges, adding a bail (or hooks) and sealing all the edges with superglue.

Refunds and returns.

Under the Australian Consumer Law, I do not offer a refund if you (or someone you have bought an item for):

* changed your/their mind
* ordered the wrong product
* found the product cheaper elsewhere
* were aware of the relevant fault before buying the product, such as if the fault was written on the tag, or indicated in the photos or item description online
*damaged the product by misusing it – for example, you showered whilst wearing the jewellery when you were told not to.
*used the product for a very long time and the problem is as a result of usual wear and tear.

To clarify, no refunds will be given for purely changing your mind, 'not getting what you thought you were getting', or for choosing an item that doesn't suit.

Packaging, and combined shipping.

I usually gift wrap jewellery items in my signature purple paper. If you don't want gift wrapping please tell me. It will not adjust the price of your purchase if you do or don't have it.

Some jewellery items, such as earrings, may be sent in a small used confectionary tin to protect them during transit.

My shipping prices include the costs incurred to safely package your items and send them according to weight and size restrictions.

Please contact me first if you wish to purchase multiple items of different sizes and weights so that I can accurately calculate a combined delivery cost for you.

Photo prints need to be sent flat so if you also wish to purchase 3 dimensional items you will need to do a separate order.

Photo print care.

Photographs are printed onto archival quality paper that is designed to outlive most of my customers. However, archival quality only works if you take suitable precautions to protect the images.

Do not display photographs in direct sunlight or under harsh lighting.

Matted prints should be framed as the boards can warp otherwise.

If framing and matting yourself, choose acid free backing boards, mats, and adhesives.

Postage/shipping.

I require a phone number for items being shipped outside of Australia, and it is preferable to have it for domestic parcels in case of any delivery hiccups. Please put your number in notes to seller.

Standard airmail letters or small packets can't be tracked and do not provide proof of postage. I can photograph your parcel and Australia Post receipt and give you the customs slip number for all goods purchased from me and travelling outside of Australia. Standard Australia Post airmail does not provide insurance. If you would like insurance please request a quote prior to purchase.

In Australia, all items are by standard Australia Post ex Perth. Please allow 5-10 working days for delivery.
