Announcement   I painstakingly hand carve the backside of each piece of driftwood and fit pieces together carefully like a puzzle to make my frames and mirrors. Leaving the weathered patina on the front of each piece of driftwood to create a seamless, "as found", natural look is important to me. When I am working, I try my best to use at least one found, recycled or repurposed element in each piece, from jewelry to tiny trees to mirrors and frames. I also use clean, recycled shipping materials donated from local business owners whenever I can. Custom requests welcome. Thanks for stopping by!

About

I have always loved nature, and the creative challenge of making something from nothing!

I first began creating with driftwood in 2001, a year after arriving in Duluth MN. With my first baby playing nearby in the sand, I began to collect the beautiful pieces that washed up on shore. Rushing home, I assembled a frame and was hooked.

I have been working in wood since the age of 10, learning skills along side my dad in his woodshop. After getting permission from the proper authorities to collect driftwood (always important if you are foraging!), I applied my knowledge of fabrication and carving to this new material and have slowly evolved my work into what you see today.

I now have a partner, three boys and a dog, and am thankful that I work in a medium that gives us an excuse to spend a lot of time at the beach!

The recycled jewelry came about after a home re-wiring project. I took the short leftover scraps of copper and began shaping and pounding them- honing my craft, pairing my new earrings with beads to reflect my love of color. I recently began working in recycled aluminum as well.

A maker since I was old enough to get my hands on materials, I also work in pottery, paint, oil pastels, sewing, furniture rehabbing, home decorating and gardening (in our all-too-short growing season).

My goal is to use the gifts God has given me to bring peace and beauty into the lives of those I touch. Thanks for stopping by!
