It all started with creating jewellery that I wanted to wear...

Hello. Welcome to Black Heart Jewellery. My name is Jules and I’m so glad that you found your way here.

I have been a creative soul for as long as I can remember and have dabbled here and there with many creative paths over the years. I ventured onto the path of jewellery creating when I could never find anything in the shops that was ‘me’. So I purchased some beads and other supplies and taught myself how to create the necklaces, bracelets and earrings that I wanted to wear. Through the compliments that I received, along with the encouragement of family and friends I began Black Heart Jewellery in March 2009.

In early 2014, I made the difficult decision to pause Black Heart Jewellery. This saddened me greatly but I had family commitments that needed my full attention and time. But I kept hold of my tools and supplies as I always believed there would come a day when I could dig my hands through those beautiful black beads and create jewellery once again. So here I am and it feels so wonderful to be back!

I work from my home in Sydney, Australia where you will find me sitting amongst containers of beads and jewellery findings and getting lost in my creations. Black Heart Jewellery is solely operated by me and it provides me many opportunities to be creative as well as refine and learn new skills. I take pride in my jewellery creations and my personal ‘rule’ is to only put jewellery pieces in my shops that I really love and would wear myself. I also believe in treating others how I would like to be treated and I use this philosophy for each one of my customers.

I’d like for you to get to know me a little better so here are some of the things I have a fondness for:

🖤 Period dramas. I usually have one playing while I’m creating jewellery and they often cause me to ponder why on earth did men stop wearing cravats & waistcoats.

🖤 Fountain pens, ink and notebooks (preferably ones that look like old journals) and wax seals (that’s why you get two of them with your BHJ order).

🖤 Exploring secondhand book and clothing shops. I have a stockpile of black dye for all those wonderful clothing finds that aren’t black.

🖤 Victorian era is my favourite historical period.

🖤 Gothic Architecture. I have many books on this subject. I also have a rather large collection of photos that I took during trips to London.

🖤 Reading. Would it surprise you if I tell you that I very much enjoy reading authors such as Charles Dickens, Charlotte Bronte, Jane Austen and others? I love getting lost in a novel set in a historical period.

🖤 Autumn and rainy days. I always feel far more inspired on these type of days.

🖤 Animals. I love them and enjoy their company. Nothing like a furry or feathery friend.

🖤 Gardening. I have a vegetable garden that is my earthly sanctum. For someone who doesn’t like being out in the sun & lives in Australia this can be a challenge at times but I do try to make it work as there’s nothing like eating produce that you’ve lovingly tended to for weeks and weeks.

The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
Returns and exchange details
I appreciate and value my customers and want them to be happy with their purchase. If for some reason you are unhappy with your item, please contact me within 14 days of receiving your order. We can discuss a refund and returning of the item. Refunds are taken on a case-by-case basis and I will do my best to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

Earrings cannot be returned due to health regulations.

Shipping costs are non-refundable and the customer is responsible to pay for the postage costs associated with returning the item.

PROCESSING TIME:
I will endeavour to do my best to have all orders ready to be shipped within 1-3 business days. If there is ever a delay in preparing your order then I will contact you. Orders are taken to the Post Office on Tuesdays and Fridays.

SHIPPING INFORMATION & DELAYS DUE TO COVID-19:
Due to flight cancellations and government restrictions because of COVID-19 there are currently major international shipping delays and orders will possibly take 2-4 weeks longer than usual.

From the 3rd of April 2020 until further notice, Australia Post has suspended their “Economy Air” international delivery service for parcels to all countries, territories and regions. Therefore I am only able to send international orders using their ‘Standard’ international service until other shipping options are available.

GIFT WRAPPING & PACKAGING:
I have put a great deal of thought and care into choosing my packaging as I want to convey to each of my customers that I truly appreciate them.

Every order will be placed in a gift box that will be wrapped in tissue paper with lace and ribbon. Each of my shop listings has a photo of the gift boxes and packaging for your reference. The wrapped gift boxes are placed in black shipping boxes which will help to keep your jewellery safe until it reaches you.

CUSTOMS & IMPORT TAXES:
Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. I'm not responsible for delays due to customs.

CUSTOM ORDERS:
At this time, I am unable to accept custom orders.

LOST/MISSING ORDERS:
If your package does not turn up within the expected timeframe, please contact me and I will do my best to rectify the situation.

Please be aware that I don't consider a parcel 'lost' in the post until it has been a full 70 days from the date of shipping, and I will not replace an item sooner than this. Normally this time is much shorter, but due to the large shipping delays because of COVID-19 this time has been extended.
