Luxury handspun yarn, breed specific wools and handmade wearables to delight your inner artist.
I am a late-blooming fiber artist. Having worked most of my life in different occupations and always for someone else, I had always longed to work for myself; to be my own boss. You know the old saying, be careful what you wish for? Well, an injury at work combined with other health concerns eventually forced me to retire earlier than I had anticipated, but had that not happened when it did, I might never have discovered my love of fiber... and for that I am very grateful.
First, I taught myself to knit and crochet as a way of filling time and keeping myself busy. A few years later that love of knitting and crochet evolved into a desire to spin my own yarn. I borrowed a few books from the library and taught myself to spin on an inexpensive wooden drop spindle. It wasn't long at all before I moved on... purchasing my very first spinning wheel, a Lendrum single treadle that I have fondly named Lucille.
Since then, I've acquired an old Cowichan-style wheel (named Ruth, after my late grandmother) for spinning bulky art yarns, and a Babe e-spinner (Bertha) for plying larger skeins. Professional acid dyes have helped me further expand my knowledge by venturing into hand dyeing. Of course that wasn't enough to satisfy my creative mind, so I started collecting looms and teaching myself to weave. First was my Kircher rigid heddle loom, a Schact tapestry loom, and most recently a Leclerc floor loom which I am slowly getting to know. I hope to eventually share some of my woven items in the shop as well.
Thank you so much for stopping by my shop of handcrafted fiber goodies. I am proud to share my creations with you, and I hope you find something in my shop that helps you discover your inner artist :)
