About Black Sunshine
Back in 2004 I started Black Sunshine as a retail business selling alternative clothing.
I also started experimenting with making synthetic dreads and have never stopped.
Since 2011 Black Sunshine has become a solely 'handmade' business, after closing down my bricks and mortar store.
I now sell only my handmade synthetic dreads and accessories via Etsy.
My favourite thing to do is make dreads. Especially the more natural looking crochet dreads. I love mixing colours to come up with great unique combinations.

Returns and exchanges
I gladly accept returns
I don't accept exchanges or cancellations
The following items can't be returned or exchanged
- Custom or personalized orders
- Perishable products (like food or flowers)
- Digital downloads
- Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
Returns and exchange details
I can only offer refunds on faulty items.
No worn dreads can be returned.
No refunds given on synthetic dreads due to health and safety reasons.
If you wish to see more photographs of the dread set just let me know.

If you would like to upgrade to tracked / signed for postage please select this option at the checkout.
Please note for orders outside of the UK they may take up to 28 days to get to you.
If you would like your item within a specific time frame please feel free to message me to choose a different postage option.
I am not responsible for any items that go missing in the post.
For orders outside of the UK - I mark all packages as a 'gift'. But if for some reason custom charges are incurred it is not my responsibility.
Additional policies and FAQs
For a full head of synthetic dreads you will typically need 35-45 double ended or 45-70 single ended dreads, but this can depend on the thickness of your own hair and the dread themselves.
Please note that I do live in a household with cats, although they do not go into my dread making / supplies room.

Custom and personalised orders
I’m afraid I no longer accept custom orders. I now only make pre made sets. I add new ones to my shop every week 🙂
