Very nice. I think they'll work well with the table design. Look forward to purchasing more in the future! Thanks
I started Black Turtle Metals in 2007 after years of working with my mentor/teacher David Brewin at his shop Plum Orchard Forge. We had spent those years designing and making custom architectural elements for the homes and businesses in our region, and were enjoying a profitable and rewarding streak in our business... until the housing market crashed.
David had been at the anvil for most of his life, and took this opportunity to embrace retirement. I, however was just getting started, and need to find a new niche.
The last commission I had before the crash, was a two year stent creating elaborate custom drawer and cabinet pulls for a large home in our area. This lead me to try and design some knobs and pulls that I could make quickly and sell for a reasonable price. I added these to my existing line of wall plates and candle holders (that I'd been selling in local galleries) and opened my Etsy shop.
It was slow going in the beginning, but I with a few supplemental side jobs and one or two larger commissions I was able to hang on. Now, five years later, I've added new knobs, a whole line of bath accessories, and a lamp and things are going great.

All items are hand made by me in my shop in the mountains of western North Carolina. I go out of my way to have as little impact on our environment as possible. All metals used in my products are comprised primarily of recycled materials. Whenever possible our forging processes are performed using natural gas not coal. I offer several low or no v.o.c. finishes on items that are not regularly handled. However Items such as knobs, drawer pulls, and wall plates use conventional (higher v.o.c.) enamel based finishes to ensure long term durability. I take great pride in my work, so you can rest assured of the finest quality and workmanship.
