The pen and ink house portrait is a beautiful work of art! Maribel captured the beauty and uniqueness of our home. I gave it to my husband as a gift and he was thrilled to have such a creative momento of all the special years we spent in this home. Thank you again!!!

Maribel did a gorgeous rendering of my Brooklyn home, which made the perfect gift for my family this Christmas. Maribel was such a pleasure to work with - she completely understood what I wanted to achieve, drew from multiple photos and gave me an update when she was about halfway through so that I could see her progress. In the end, the drawing was so much better than I expected, was completed exactly in the timeframe we discussed and - most importantly - was an enormous hit for my family. I was so glad to work with Maribel on this special project and would do so again and again.

Blanco y negro

Blanco y negro, Spanish for black and white.
The title reflects my heritage, as well as a love of
detailed pen and ink drawing.

I began drawing from the time I could hold a pencil.

Color pencils travel well, I took a handful with me when I moved to Spain.
Living alone, I discovered how to draw with no time constraints at all,
and had to learn how to breathe while drawing.
I drew from my imagination,
while all around me were Mediterranean sunsets,
architectural wonders, vivid colors and fabulous food.
So, I set out to draw a pastry shop, with all the tasty treats lined
up on display. Each day, I would stop in front of many pastry shops,
study the shapes, and if I was lucky, would bring some home.
Four months later, the drawing was finished.

Back home, in Rochester, NY, I continued drawing, and exhibiting.
In 1992, started creating pen and ink portraits of homes and museums,
and publishing posters of my work. It doesn't take me four months to
complete a drawing, but a least I breath well while doing it!

I have been illustrating architectural renderings for an area architect since 1993.
In my own portfolio, have created over 400 house portraits in pen and ink.

A new project is always very exciting for me, whether it is a watercolor of a home,
or a drawing of a doorway, I love to help to immortalize the memories.
