Announcement   Welcome to Blessing Beads--crocheted copper wire and a mosaic of stones, pearls, shells, glass and metal beads.

I love working with stones. I love the weight of them, their coolness as well as the way they will absorb and emanate the heat of the body. I love the myriad of colors and textures available. I love learning about how they were traditionally used and what qualities and powers they exhibit. I love the magic that is created when they are combined with a purpose.

As the mother of a four year old, finding time to create my art often feels like stolen time. However, I want my life to model the creative life I am nurturing in her. My loose beads are often re-purposed as "pirates' treasure" or "jelly beans" at an all stuffed animals tea party.

I have been working with beads since 2004. Before that, I collected them and hoarded them in an old sewing box. Today, they overflow the many drawers of my work desk and frequently find their way to my dining room table where I indulge in my favorite creative outlet when I am not fully occupied in the delightful task of caring for my four and a half year old daughter.

When I started Blessing Beads 12 years ago, I never expected it to take on a life of it's own and be the outlet for growth and touchstone for my creativity. Even when it has languished (or I have languished in my attention to it, occupied with the minutiae of motherhood), it has remained a vehicle for engaging my creativity and the world. Every return to the craft table is a homecoming. One strand of new beads begins a creative adventure as I find joy in color and texture and their dance.

If you don't see your particular color or stone preferences, let me know and I'll create something just for you. Most pieces can be adjusted to special size requirements as well. The wire I work with is tarnish-resistant copper and sterling silver plated copper wire that will not discolor the skin.

In Oregon, I am proud to be carried by McMinnville's Found Objects (across from 0
the Hotel Oregon) and Channel's Edge off Marine Drive on Bridgeton Road in Portland.

I look forward to sharing my creative inspirations with you!

Blessings!

Jenn
