Capturing a moment - a memory.
I flew from the nest to study architectural design at Kansas State University in 2005. In 2009 I had the amazing opportunity to study Renaissance ideals near Firenze/Florence in a tiny medieval town perched above the beautiful valleys of Tuscany, Italy. There in Castiglion Fiorentino, I met a dear and wise local artist, Gabriele Menci, for weekly watercolor classes. Gabriele spent the afternoon teaching my classmates and I a love of painting poppies, chickens, whimsical clouds, and the wondrous cypress tree.
After finishing my architecture degree in 2010 back in Kansas, I started Bleu Herron Designs. Now I spend my days wading through various creative pursuits: architectural design, cooking, gardening, acrylic and watercolor painting, textiles, furniture restoration, photography, jewelry, and paper crafts -inspired and delighted by the colors, flavors, and textures of the world.
what is Bleu Herron Designs?
It is a place to share my creations and delight in the moment of making something beautiful. I produce original artwork and giclee prints (created, printed, and hand matted by myself) as well as other handmade paper and fiber creations.

I find joy in the play of light, texture, and colors of our world. A soul opening semester in Tuscany made all of the difference to my expression of them. These are my notes in pencil, pen, paintbrush, paper, and fiber.
My shop features original artwork and reproductions produced, printed, and hand matted by myself, the artist. Please feel free to contact with any questions or requests for special colors, matting, drawings, paintings, other medias, etc.

All prints are printed to exact size. For example a 5x7inch print will be a full image of exactly 5 inches by 7 inches. Some commercially cut matting has an opening of less than the full size of the image, so that it covers the outer 1/8 inch or so of the print, making it so that part of the image is lost under matting.
All prints are shipped with at least a 1/4 inch border to assist the customer in matting the piece. Some of the white (unprinted) borders are larger, but all are at least 1/4 inch. Please let me know if you would like it trimmed any other way during checkout.
If your order is meant as a gift to someone other than the buyer, please let me know so that I can include a special note from you to the recipent!
If you would like a personalized set of art stationery, Thank You cards, or Holiday Greeting cards, please contact me with some ideas, I would love to help.
I encourage anyone who might be interested to ask for custom paintings created from their own photographs. I find that a painting made from a photo of a favorite vacation, family home, wedding celebration, or of a pet photo can have much more depth and feeling than a printed photograph. -Prices are based on time spent and materials used. Please contact me with some ideas and I will be more than happy to help you out.
