Announcement    Hello, and welcome to my shop!

I like to make things from what other people throw out. Orphaned earrings, shirtless buttons, found objects, vintage odds and ends -- these things excite me!

I work with old things, used things, squished things, and conventional things used in a new way. Because many of the materials I work with have already lived a useful life, you may see signs of wear, which to me is part of the charm of owning a recycled item.

Enjoy browsing my shop, and come back soon. You never know what I'll find next.

About blingaling

Sales 91
On Etsy since 2007

It all started with a screen door...

I've always admired handmade objects, but I only started making things myself after my husband walked through our screen door -- twice. So your can guess what my first Etsy items were made of.

From there, I moved on to finding crushed aluminum cans in the street and turning them into a line of playful animals I call Canimals. Over the years, I've made necklaces from vacuum tubes (this work was featured in Garth Johnson's book "1000 Ideas for Creative Re-Use"), earrings from used Starbucks gift cards, and nesting boxes from recycled magazines.

I live in the desert southwest, which serves up the usual found object delights, as well as some uniquely local treasures, such as Anasazi pottery shards. I've made necklaces from these objects, collected on private land, and used the opportunity to educate the public on an indigenous culture in my home state of Arizona.

I hope you enjoy what I've come up with lately. Welcome to my shop, and have some fun!

A WORD ABOUT THE CLEANLINESS OF MY RECYCLED ITEMS... I'm a recycler, but I'm also a clean freak. Everything you buy from me that can be washed has been given a thorough cleansing with soap and water. It may be old, it may be bruised with character, but gosh darnit it's clean!
