Welcome to blnoopesup, an onomatopoeia.

I vary techniques depending on seasons and studio space. My main love is Japanese batik dupioni silk which I learned from my mentor now known as Kirinada (betsysterlingbenjamin.com)

I currently have a small and transitory space, so I have been substituting my creative edge with small runs of batik paper, direct design using Milk Paints with added Aardvark pigments and generally wheat pasting everything I can which has lead to an eco focused line of clipboards and new pieceworked silk wall pieces.

All items are one of a kind, created by hand, repeatedly dyed dried and then waxed 10 times (or more) to achieve the visual depth sought. Or painted using powdered mix as you go Milk Paint some have been primed using Olympic VOC Free primer paint which we are phasing out to be Old Fashioned Milkpaints only.

I use soywax and beeswax, sometimes paraffin. I use organic soybeans to make my soy milk binder agent.

All clip boards are Saunders Co. manufactured in Mississippi by persons with disabilities.

I work with two kinds of dyes:

With Japanese batik, the dye is similar to natural dyes in it's presence, as it is very potent in pigmented color and one of the least obnoxious I have met to our environment and waters visually and by pH.

The other is Procion mX dye, this is what I was trained to use in college. See ProChem's website to answer questions about these dyes. When used correctly, it is only slightly terrible. I say this from a fiber manufacture perspective

I do not do consignment or wholesale at this time....but intend to shortly. This is because I have taken a new job at a new school and that is very time consuming, oh and I am planning a wedding.
